The news lately has been nothing but bad for Princessa Marina. A friend of mine was in the restaurant in La Sabana saturday night and told me there was only 4 other couples there. Todays news reported the ministerio de salud has filed a denuncia against them, and there have been over 80 demandas filed by customers affected by the problem in moravia. It could spell real trouble for them in the days to come. It,s a shame, I have been eating at thier restaurants for more than 20 years and never had a problem. But bad publicity is a bitch. An interesting side note, Sundat nights news reported a 50 percent decline in seafood consumption in Costa Rica since the reprt on the problem in Moravia. Just have to wait and see. tuanis |

Well when you make over 120 people sick for over a week that is what happens. I know someone who ate there and got sick and he was really sick for a week. Many people went to the hospital. The Nacion reported yesterday that criminal charges would be filed against the owner. I say good riddance to them. I guess the seafood was cheap for a reason. |

Here's an update in today's Inside Costa Rica newspaper: Seafood Restaurant Owners Facing Criminal Charges The owners of the seafood restaurant chain, La Princesa Marina, are facing criminal charges brought forth by the ministra de Salud, MarÃa Luisa Ãvila, after more than 100 people fell ill eating at the restaurant's Moravia location. Minister Avila said yesterday that the charges have been filed with the Ministerio Público after analysis showed that the restaurant was negligent in its handling of food that caused the illness. Tests of the well water owned and used exclusively by the restaurant was done by the Laboratorio Nacional de Aguas del Instituto Costarricense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados, which found the water to be contaminated. In addition, the health ministry found irregularities with the food preparation and handling, which contributed to the food poising. Tests by the Laboratorio Microbiológico de Alimentos del Instituto Costarricense de Investigación en Nutrición y Salud (Inciensa), that at least three patients became ill after consuming food contaminated with feca matter. Signs at the various locations of the Princesa Marina restaurants say the location is closed for remodeling. |

We were at Sabana on May 18th, and this was a Sunday night, there were only 4 other people in the place. It takes 100 people getting sick for the government to look into things. I bet 75% of all restaurants in CR would fail a real test. |
