Was in town last week and had the opportunity to dine at one of my favorite San Jose resturants. Every night a group of gentlemen and a few select chicas dined together and almost every night we ended up at Costa Del Sol. The food and service were excellent as always. The filet cooked in olive oil was great as was everything else on the menu . i asked how is the egg plant parmasiam and the waiter said if i want it to let him know so he could go get egg plant. now that is service.not to mention a 10% discount on the ticket.Shawn, Scuba bum, Vegas Bob,Nailhead,Bangbang, and Karla thank you for the company at dinner last week . look foward to breaking bread with all of yall real soon.

Yes, Costa Del Sol is one of my favorites when I travel to SJO. I always have the chicken parm. The place can look like a dive but the food and staff are great.

Hell, the place is a dive-I would never have gone in there in a million years if it hadn't been recommended on crt.

Hit it again twice this trip, once for the dg special and once for the filet in garlic oil.

As always deliciosa,

sincity

Just echoing what Sincity and others have said. I really like this place and crave the chicken parm when I am in town. Although CDS's physical attributes are not five star (to say the least), the staff always seem to recognize CRT'ers and treat us like royalty. I think that adds to the experience, although it is the food that keeps me coming back.

Ciaociao

I don't see what you guys see in this place. Decent food at a decent price in an unclean enviroment. Thats it. I usually see a cockroach climbing the wall also. The italian place in san pedro behind the outlet mall is far better in every respect for about the same price.

The last time I was there they were out of parmesan cheese, we said go aroos the street to mas x menos and the waiter just laughed. Go figure.

I like the raviolis but the mariana sauce is horrible. Tastes like tomato soup.

With the pizza oven so close to the tables it is always hot as hades there too.

The pizza varies in quality, I usually go to the place 2 doors up.

Most of my friends think it was way better with the previous owner.

With all due respect to all the Costa Del Sol lovers out there (myself included) it has gotten quite expensive in the last year or so. The dishes are now about the same price as Il Ritorno which is far superior. I also wish they could do something about the bus fumes that permeate the place.Other than that,I love it.

I agree with Bob on the fumes, but isnt that part of the big city experence?I dont think the prices are out of line at all, mater of fact I think they are very low, and the place is so convient, but it is dirty, mom always said you will eat a peck of dirt before you die. In less than 2 weeks me and the group will be at Costa Del Sol many nights.Took Joker 33 for his first meal there and he seemed to work through the high prices, bus fumes, ect. ect.and the heat of the oven, you can always sit upstairs overlooking the Ave. if its to hot in the bottom dining room

Shawn was really good to be in SJO to celebrate your birthday, and also to eat dinner with so many CRT brothers and a couple of fine Chicas.

Be careful when dining anywhere in C.R. in large groups, and that includes Costa del Sol. Be sure to carefully examine your bill before paying.

I love the food and service at CDS and try to get there every trip. Love the chicken parmegiana, and I think their pizza is awesome...but more than one guy has told me that their kitchen is muy sucia. :( Oh well, they've never made me sick yet, and I'm sure I'll be eating hearty at D.G's birthday bash. :D

Well, hopefully what we can't see won't hurt us. I like the food at Mariscar too , but I hate the fact that I can see into that nasty kitchen from the stairs
