Le Monastere is a French cusine restaurant. The Italian restaurant in the hills of Escazu is Valle Azul.

I was just looking through my receipts from last year and came across one from La Monestere. $70 for appetizers, wine, and two really good filet mingnon dinners, service included. The view over the valley is awesome.

Monastery was awesome. directions....go at night and look for the big green cross up on the hill

dinner was appetizers, salads, I had a rib-eye and she had fish, desert and it came to 49,000 colones. Worth every penny as we were the only ones up against the window and the view was perfect.

ID - you are right, no italian on the menu.

Above Escazu is the Valle Azul restaurant which was Italian last time I was there. It's at the opposite end of Escazu from the Monastery. It was pretty good but pricey as you're paying for the view.
