I have one for you guys. i am not sure if it has been posted here before, but here is one of my favorites while in SJ. If you go south on Calle 3B away from ZB and hang a right on Ave 7. Its just a couple of doors down on ther right. Some of the best colombian food I have ever tasted. Although I do have to point out... Its just a hole in the wall place. Anyone know the name of this place? |

My Colombian amigas have taken me to 2 different Colombian places to eat. Never again. The last time there was this black goat size dick thing on my plate that tasted like black goat shit. They loved it. Not for me. I wouldn't even give that stuff to the K*ds on the corner begging for food or money. ![]() Berk..... |

Stay away from the Nicaraguan places too. They eat Mandango. That is the stomach lining of cows and they think it is gourmet. Also, you know the parts of chicken you spit out.........yep- they love it. |

![]() Berk..... Here's where it really helps to speak Spanish. When reviewing a menu in a Latin America county, I avoid the "Pene del Cabro Negro en salsa de caca" at all costs. Although I hear that it's considered to be a delicacy, I find that I just don't have a taste for it. ![]() Ciaociao |

I remember one time my amigas invited me for lunch at their place. One of them made sopa de pollo...... feet included. She dished me up a bowl and included a foot on purpose. She thought it was funny..... until I stick it up her ass.... or maybe I suggested she stick it up her ass. Yea, that was it. Never piss off a Colombiana! ![]() Berk.... |

That is strange. I eat Colombian food in San Jose and have never come across this weird stuff. All the places I have sampled are top notch. Check out the Colombian restaurants on Paseo Colon. |

Mondongo is fine. In Mexico they call it Menudo, though I've been told that one is a subset of the other. I like the Colombian specialties at the Colombian bar on Calle 11, though the fat content is a bit too high for me nowdays, (it is called a chicheronera afterall). Why go places if you are afraid to eat anything different? |

Yeah, there are two Colombian restaurants there now. The Rincon is one and I've always enjoyed it. It's easier to describe their location as just up the hill from ZB and around the corner from Soda Peru. I really like both the Colombian restaurants and everyone knows Peru is great. |

I ate there few times when I stayed at HZB last fall. The food was good, and the service was fine. I think I had more mexican style fare - like fajitas or chicken tacos or something like that. I don't remember for sure. I do know they had "mainstream" food and maybe the exotic/weird stuff too but I would not have recognized it on the menu. Once I ordered a diet Coke, and the Girl had to leave to go buy one and bring it back. I'd go back there. |

Well I have to agree here as I went to one of the Sabor Nicaraguense restaurants with my gordita nica last trip. This one was the one on the corner a few doors from 70E up the street from the Heredia bus parada. She was jonesin for some Vigoron. Basically it's chunks of fried pork fat. Tried it in Granada and while not personally enamored with it found it interesting. Here was absolutely vile. Even she didn't like it. Place not recommended. The Colombiano place next to Harry's Poas has caught my eye and is always packed, like to give it a shot this w/e. PHX |

Theres a great chicharon place not too far from San Antonio Esc bus stop in sj (almost as exquisite as lardo),crisp delicate crust and soft mild interior for some great homemade vigaron.
