I hear Bakea is closing today... If true, that's too bad, was a great place...

It WAS a great place. they quit selling the pizzas and the macadamia nut dessert. it was my 2 favorite things there. if it's not broke, don't fix it!

That's what the waiters told me the other day (Friday I think) when I went for lunch, that they were closing the next day.

I am very sad to report that I went by Bakkea last night at 6:30pm and they were CLOSED. Now where am I going to get authentic New Zealand lamb. that's it....I'm moving back to the States....NOT

I had my tica called their number last Monday and according to the recording, they have another location opened. So CRTers presently in SJO may still have the chance to try. Whether it is run by the same chef serving the same menu, I don't know.

Thanks for the update DZ, keep us posted. I always thought that was a peculiar location. By that I mean, I would think they would thrive in a more affluent area, Escazu or even on the east side where there appears to be a flourishing restaurant scene with a nice mix of young professionals and well educated /traveled Ticos

The other location is in Santa Ana, 221 1051 is the tel no. we tried. Hopefully the chef and the food item, quality will remain the same.
