Post subject: | Chinese Rotisserie places |
Any of you guys ever notice the number of Chinese chicken Rotisserie places in SJ? I ate in 5-6 of them during my last trip. There are two rotisserie places near Parque Central, near the gym. Great chicken and some chinese side dishes. |

ID and O....Yeah, I know the one you're referring too. We used to go to that one, but it seemed the tico waiters in there didn't like gringos. One in particular would always wait on 2 or 3 other parties that came in after us, before waiting on us. ![]() ![]() Zebra |

Maybe we are talking about different places, because the one I thought ID was referring to is a Chinese chicken place. There were never any Tico waiters, just a Chinese lady with a notepad. It's just past Ave 2 on the left side on calle 7 (I think). |

It's just past Ave 2 on the left side on calle 7 (I think). Definitely not the same place. This place, where Orange has pinpointed (directly across from the large Caja building), is more cafeteria style. No Tico waiters. |

It's the same place. I just checked your directions on a map. I've seen this same particular tico waiter over several trips to CR.....short, stocky guy. The last time we were there, never did get waited on...and left. ![]() You mentioned "cafeteria style." The first time I was there, this cute Chinese girl [who was all business] was behind the counter. We didn't know the procedure to order food, so we went up to her at the counter. After she thought for a few seconds, in her best English she could come up with, she said "SIT--DOWN!!"....which we did. Someone eventually took our order.....but never had much luck getting waited on after that. ![]() Zebra |

Post subject: | Campesino Pollo |
I assume some of you mean the place on Calle 7 near the corner of Avenida 2 called Campesino Pollo. I went there regularly for years but got some chicken that was almost raw once and started going to another long time favorite Mariscar instead. It is closer to where I stay now anyhow. Years ago I'd take the bus in from Sabana Sur, visit Tiny's for a bit before a stop at Arte y Sauna, have lunch at ABC, visit Jay at the BM, pick up a whole chicken for 600-1000C (depending on the year) at Campesino Pollo and take the bus back home. Fun times. |
