Worth giving a try...recent remodel great breakfast with similar views as News Cafe of Ave Central..w/better service and food than Pres. Breakfast blows away News Cafe. Nice bar and open to guests with no dress code like Pres. www.agoda.com for best CR room rates |

Service and the quality of food have always varied . I just looked at their new menu, they raised prices by at least 30% . It's a joke eating there now. |

Is it expensive to eat there? I was going to go in there, but it looked like an expensive place. |

Cheaper than the News Cafe. However Zman posted Quote: I just looked at their new menu, they raised prices by at least 30% .
So perhaps that is no longer true. |

In the old menu , the prices were very reasonable. Sometimes the food was ill prepared, sometimes not. Same about the service. In the new menu the little lobster tails were 48$ and the jumbo shrimp was 32$. The lunch specials have gone up in price but still are not a bad deal. |

GOD DAMN THEM!!! ![]() ![]() I hope they did not screw with the price on my favorite, which is the chicken breast in red wine sauce it was only 2 or 3 thousand colones. Even where I live the price to eat out has gone up. I had a Papa John's menu from a year ago which had a medium pizza for $9.99, it had been a year since ordering from them, so I called them up to order and now they tell me it's $11.99 for the same pizza + another dollar or two for a tip. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

You cheap bastard! Ever hear of coupons? Zman wrote: I just looked at their new menu, they raised prices by at least 30% . That sucks but doesn't surprise me. Looks like Latinoheat will be dining at TacoBell and Burger King next trip. ![]() |

Milk prices have gone up, making cheese prices higher. Therefore, the price in your pizza has gone up. |

One cost cutting measure is they have reduced the size on all pizzas and raised prices |

Has anyone checked out their price for breakfast? Use to be 2900 colones for a full american breakfast and 3500 colones for the buffet. Have not had breakfast there for awhile and would be interested in what the new prices are. |

One thing I found out during my trip. Costa Rica is a great bargain for chicks. But is terrible for quality food at decent prices. Had breakfast at El Patio. I have had better toast at the Waffle House. The bread seemed a tad stale. The OJ was standard. The bacon was meh. The scrambled eggs were OK. |

It's a super place to people-watch and drink a coffee or beer though, especially in the morning (for you fellow morning-drinkers), just like the News Cafe. |

There is a little café inside the little hotel to the rear of the Gran Hotel Costa Rica. I don’t recall the name of it right now but it is on Avenida Central, just west of Calle 3. The café is upstairs and you can sit on the balcony and overlook paseo. It isn’t like sitting at ground level where you can oogle, but more like sitting in a nest where you can drool. I think my breakfast was 1500 colones: eggs, toast, fruit, pinto, cheeze and OJ. |

It now called hotel El Maragato but I think the Gran Via sign is still there. |
