Hi guys!
I will be arriving in CR at around 8:45 pm on 5/24.

I'm wondering if there are any restaurants open at that hour to feed a couple of famished travelers. I'm gonna be HUNGRY, so inexpensive with volume would be the perfect combo. After customs, taxi, hotel check-in, I'm guessing that it will be around 11pm before we're able to eat.

Any suggestions?

You should be at the hotel checked-in by 10pm.

Where are you staying?

Sportsmens has a restaurant (kitchen closes at 10pm I think). Del Mar (across from Del Rey) is open 24 hrs but they are neither inexpensive nor volumous (is that a word?).

Ive eaten really late dinners at the resturant at Key Largo before. They have a bar right next to the drinking bar that you can sit down and order a meal from. Full menu - food was actually pretty good!

If you like Tico food....the Key Largo has a late night "buffet"....costs practically nothing and it's open real late.

My guess is that it's designed to feed the chicas with a good, economical meal....to keep them on site.

Key Largo......is that a strip club???

Key Largo is a bar and night club......directly across the street from the Del Rey. They have live music and dancing every night starting at 10 pm......it's a good time; check it out!

Customs is a breeze. Go through the "Nothing to declare line". The real pain sometimes is immigration. That late though, it shouldn't be too bad of a line. It depends how many flights arrive at the same time. Once you get your bag go outside get a taxi and you'll be at the hotel in about 30 minutes. Make sure you print out the address (and maybe directions) for the driver. Also a phone number, so he can call them if he can't find it. I don't think it's that well known.

There is a restaurant at the Clarion Amon Plaza, but from reviews it's not very good and expensive, if I remember what was written.

Key Largo is a night spot. It's basically a disco (club) with working girls. It has a live band and 3-4 bars. It is located across the street from Del Rey so the girls go back and forth looking for clients.

I've read a lot of reports regarding Cafe Mundo. Would that place be closed by then?

Manolos, Avenida Central y Calle 2. Open 24 hours a day. If Costa Del Sol is open (not sure of their hours) when you get to the gulch the Veal Parmigiana (especial Don Gordo) is very very filling, delicious and reasonable.

If you are coming in really late and even the above spots are closed, there is always Soda Tapia which is open 24 hrs. All the taxis know it.

Black, what hotel are you staying in?

Everyone's recommendations here are solid except that since it's your first night why not just eat in the restaurant part of the Hotel Del Rey? It's the same food they serve in the Del Mar restaurant or at least it's cooked in that kitchen- the waiters shuffle it across the street on covered trays. That way you can relax, have a drink, order up some food, and get accustomed to the atmosphere. It's not a restaurant closed off from the rest of the action at HDR so you're still in the groove there and lots of chicas hanging out and watching around. Even if you weren't planning on being at the HDR your first night it's still a great way to bust your entrance cherry, have a look around, then move on to wherever you were going. If it's where you already planned to be, bingo! Enjoy the eye candy.

The restaurant at HDR is open real late if not 24 hours.
