It has been said many times here that this is an information board and sharing of information is one of the reasons it is so popular.

Many of us have had excellent meals at a reasonable price over the years. I believe they may have made some changes in the kitchen as my chief complaint with their breakfast was that they appeared to deep fry the bacon. The last time I was there it appeared that the bacon had been grilled as it should be.

I think you should post the reasons for your dissatisfaction so that other can compare there experience to see if this was an isolated incident or a general decline in the quality of the restaurant.

I can add to Scuba's post because I ate dinner with him there and thought the same thing. First we tried to eat out on the new porch that is very nice looking. Well we sat out there for several minutes and no one came to serve us. We decided to move inside since we were hungry. We ordered a drink after some time waiting and waited another 5-10 minutes for our drinks. (the poor service was a recurring theme of the meal so I won't mention it any more here) Scuba strongly recommended the oinion soup so I ordered that and the corvina with mariscos sauce that I really like. Well the soup came and we both made a face when we tasted it. I said that it tasted like dishwater and he agreed. We called the waiter over and told him it was really bad so he took it away. 10 minutes later while we were waiting for our main course,he comes back WITH MORE SOUP. Since it was there,we tried it and it was slightly better. We figured that if we sent it back the meal would go on forever so we ate it. Then our main courses came out. My fish tasted pretty good. However I spent most of the rest of the evening in the DR Banjo.

I'will probably try them again since I have always been happy in the past, but I agree with Scubabum that the meal wasn't their best effort.

Thanks for the follow up VB. It seems that perhaps the Colonial restaurant is slipping. I hope not but it always seems that in San Jose, with a few exceptions of course, if you find a restaurant that has good food at a fair price they either close up, raise the prices or the food and service slip badly.

Thanks LH- I am having flashbacks! I spent all day yesterday afraid to be far from the bano at home. Finally, at about 6pm, I had to go get laid.
I went with a regular of mine out of the HDR and she was a little colder than usual when going down on me.......Do you think maybe she noticed my affliction?

YO Colonial crappy chow:

T-man and myself had written off that place over two years ago. Once a nice dining experience but after 2003 their food and service truly began to go down hill. It's a shame because they do have reasonable kitchen equiptment (unless they have sold it) capable of preparing good food if they would hire a good chef but the management cannot get it together and the complaints fall on death ears.

The freebie mini buffet was palatable when they first introduced it on Friday and Saturday evenings.....not anymore. Hell, that's how cheap old Circus was able to eat on the weekend.....even carried my own doggie bag. Shit, what is one suppose to do.....when you sleep with a dog you feed the dog.

Third world mentality largely is inept not knowing that a casino's dining experience can aid in attracting higher quality gamblers thus increasing the coffers of the establishment. The dirty little secret is that many higher minimun play gamblers will cater to casinos that comp for a nice meal / entertainment while losing hundreds or thousands of $$. Yes, it's dumb but also a fact.

As V-Bob may appreciate. A gambler, not professional, will play hard in order to meet the time and average bet amount in order to qualify for perks. God help them. Nothing like losing two, three or several thousand bucks for a $100. dinner for two.

Circus...you're right on my friend. I've watched sicko gamblers lose thousands at the tables "qualifying" for a $12.95 buffet in Vegas.
