Walking out of the Presidente, you turn right......then turn left walking up the hill to the Del Ray.........you are on the right hand side of the street.......there is a small restaurant with a rotating thing with many chickens on them. I have often wondered what the price and how the taste is........or even if it is still open. Thanks in advance. |

John, walk out of the Presidente turn right past the casino about halfway to the corner on right, I think the name is Mariscar. They have a wood burning oven they roast the chickens on, best I've had. Half a chicken, rice, black beans ,salad and beer w/ good tip 3000 colones. |

If you walk downhill from the Presidente, across the large blvd, on the left is Pollo Campesino. Great chicken over native wood at a great price. Run by chinese and a great hangover chaser at 11 with a cold cerveza migrant |

Have to agree with migrant. Pollo Campesino one of the best spots in downtown for chicken. First went there in '92 and they still going strong. At that time think they were the only Pollo Brasa spot around. Madicasar came later and was just a little hole in the wall joint until they cleaned it up and remodeled. Never have eaten there so con not compare the 2 places, but Pollo Campesino worth a try. |

When Mariscar built the rotisserie, I stopped going to Campesino Pollo. I got a chicken that was about half done there once. Mariscar now has Pizza too, though I didn't try it. Staying at Hotel Castillo, I only got take out chicken from there this trip. When I stayed at the Presidente, I ate there about 5 times a week. |
