Don't waste you time and money dining at Restaurant Cerrutti in Escazu.
Overpriced and average quality. They are attempting to providing a nice dining experience but just don't provide the quality food to pull this off.

Average cost per diner was about $50. After several attempts at fine dining in San Jose, you are better off at places like Princessa Marina which provides good service, excellent food and Costa Rican prices.

My best gourmet meals have always been in Tamarindo. Restuarants usually run by Europeans.

Each morning I was in Tamarindo, I enjoyed the best breakfast buffet I've found anywhere in Costa Rica at the HOTEL DIRIA. Just about anything you want in both Costa Rican and American breakfast fare. :)

Surprising review of Cerrutti's. I have never dined there as their pricing structure is way over my budget. However all the reviews I have read about the place were always very high on the quality of the food served.

Perhaps KC had the misfortune of trying them on an off night.

Trust me, the food is very ordinary for the price

I have eaten at Cerutti on 5 - 6 occassions and have found it to be excellent. It is one of the best restaraunts I have eaten at in all the world. I am stunned at a lousy review. I wll check it out on my next visit. Above all, the service has always been top notch.

food is ok, but you can get better at 1/2 the price!!

Cerutti is dramatically overpriced. The food is not bad, but just not worth the price tag. Better bets are Mangiamo, Baccus and Cafe Mediterraneo (good value).

I have eaten at about every good restaurant in San Jose and its suburbs, most of them many times. For the past seven years I have had dinner at these restaurants over 300 nights a year (I hate to cook and I hate to cleanup and I don't like someone else in my kitchen). I eat at Cerutti about two times a month. I consider it to be the best restaurant in San Jose. It is located near El Cruce in San Rafael de Escazu. Yes, it is expensive.

Princessa Marine gets my vote for reasonable seafood in SJ. I will also comment later on the Diria buffet. I check in there on 4 March. Pura vida!

I vote for Princessa Marina as best seafood and best meal value in CR by far!

I third that. Best bang for the buck.

Try the pescado entero, the large one.

Now that's a SHOCK!   That's my only complaint about SJO. In fact, it's to the point I will not go to places that pull that crap.

So you are saying that the menu posted at the door is not the one a Tico gets when he walks in?

Really see no value in posting something negative about an establishment unless you have first hand knowledge.

at the very least you could have qualified that post by saying "I have been told" or " I have heard" and asked if anybody on the board had any info.
