Restaurant News Café Hotel Presidente!

How could I have forgotten to review the News Café in the Hotel Presidente? Probably because everyone on this board has already eaten there 2 dozen times, and had countless breakfasts on the rail that it would be pointless. However for the newbie’s, lurkers and guests who are planning a trip, here is one place you don’t want to miss.

If The Hotel Del Rey is Ground Zero for mongering, it all begins every morning at the News Café for breakfast, continues through lunch and happy hour with some really solid food, with perhaps the best Eye Candy view in all of Costa Rica.

Located in the Lobby of the Hotel Presidente, The News Café provides breakfast, lunch & dinner from 6:00 AM till about 10:00PM or so at night. Let us start with breakfast. You can have the buffet which is included with a hotel stay or you can purchase the buffet separately. It includes an omelet station, or eggs any style, fresh fruits, coffee, 2 to 3 types of juices, potatoes, rice & beans and a dry cereal and breads and muffins. The most popular seats in the joint are “on the rail” or overlooking Avenida Central Here you can enjoy your breakfast, watching the regular girls, some of the best eye candy around walking and heading off to work. These seats go fast and guys don’t like to leave them. Breakfast is decent and inexpensive. You can also order ala carte for breakfast, and the pancakes and French toast are top notch! Note to the Prez.. Get rid of that Aunt Jamima syrup, and get some real maple syrup your doing your pancakes and FT an injustice.

The Lunch and dinner menu never change though they do have some daily specials. Burgers are excellent along with the chicken sandwich. Soups are also good, wings fair but the loaded nachos are a real treat. If you’re hungry try the tico chicken with rice a large order that is actually pretty good. I personally would avoid the fried calamari which was not very good on my last trip.

Service is good the place busy and one of the all time popular spots for all meals in the gulch area.

OH They do have some seriously cute waitresses that are to young for me. Besides My wife would cut them off.

ENJOY THIS PLACE as I have at least 1 meal a week there.

Great place to eat, I have eaten there many times, however IMHO, the service is severly lacking.
