Restaurant La Palma:

Here is a popular spot a couple of minutes from everything in the gulch about 1 block from the New Fantasy, In Barrio Amon. I have been there many times and in the past they were quite good meals. The last two times I have been there have been fair with the service downright awful, so I will review my most recent visits as they would obviously be more applicable.

Large place with two floors of dining, a bar on the 1st floor, inside and outside upstairs dining courtyard on the second floor, which is quite romantic and great for a large party. Of course that is if they will ever serve you.

Menu would be classified I guess as continental as they have a large variety of everything, ranging from soups, salads, fish, chicken, steak pasta and combinations of all of the above. In my prior visits the steaks and fish myself and my wife consumed were tasty, and I had enjoyed the experience. Recently it has been a different story.

My last two visits, there was virtually nobody in the place. It took forever for a waiter to take our order. Everything took an agonizing long time to arrive, from the soups, to the entrees. The flavor on everything was lacking, and bland. On top of that the service was awful. No bread till ½ way through the meal. The wine list is overpriced and the reds warm like they are being kept in a heated room. On top of everything else, the menu is expensive.

If you do go from all my trips, the twin sirloin steaks with pepper sauce with mushrooms has consistently been the best thing on the menu. But at this rate, I’m shocked they can pay the high rent of that area with the amount of people they actually serve.

Major Credit cards accepted, and I doubt you will need a reservation.

TWO THUMBS DOWN!

I went to this restaurant with Vegasbob, Sailfish, a friend and a couple of chicas. I find this restaurant to be fairly nice and the food was quite good..but not that good to be overly priced. Too expensive for my taste. The service was also very slow. I probably would not go back again.

I have also heard from a number of sources that the service at this place can be slow. I was there about a month ago and didn't think the service was that bad. Of course, that could have been because there were not many people there or they might have responded to complaints. Who knows, obviously YMMV. The food itself I thought was good and the one I ordered was the tastiest one I had while there on my last trip. It was a sweet curried chicken dish served with tropical fruits and raisins. YUM!
