I don't know if it's been reviewed before but I've got to say that I enjoyed my dinner there last night. My selection, a piece of meat smothered in a spicy sauce, served with a small salad and fries was excellent. The meal was served hot, the meat was tasty and the owner came over to my table to make sure everything was to my liking. That dinner and a couple of glasses of white wine came to just under 6,000 colones. A good meal, in a friendly atmosphere for a fair price. LVSteve |

Always get a little nervous when the diner has an unidentifiable meat served to him ![]() ![]() ![]() Man years ago use to take a Sunday night Eastern Airlines flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Philadelphia frequently. They served a sandwich on board that no one could identify the meat on the sandwich ![]() ![]() ![]() |

My fave there is the chica (I mean chicken ![]() Okay, now I'm hungry. I need to go get me one. I've been here about 51 hours. I've eaten 3 times. I just can't find any time to eat. |

I throughly enjoyed the food at the sportsmens. I ate at least 4 meals there. One of the best was a lightly fried red snapper. ![]() |

Sounds like a good meal, Steve. But, What kinda meat were you eating? Will look for piece of meat smothered in onions on the menu next trip. Later, SB |

Steve, thanks for the review. My favorites on the SL menu (food, that is) are the club sandwich and the steak in pepper sauce, both are excellent. Prices are fair, gringo prices but not real competitive with local places...but then again, it's a hotel restaurant, and I would expect to pay more for a meal at a hotel than elsewhere. I only wish their cook wouldn't try so hard when making the burgers to overdress them. The one cheeseburger I had would have been fine, good piece of meat, big bun, very tasty...but there was enough produce on it to choke a vegetarian. It is possible to overdo the fixin's (apologies to Fudrucker's fans). I was disappointed in their a la carte breakfast (not the one included for free with the room). News Cafe is decidedly better at about the same price, but at least at the SL you're not breathing construction dust. By the way, does the SL still give the 10% food and drink discount to the CRT VIP's? ![]() I'm very eager to stay again at the SL; I love the place, and their restaurant is mighty fine. That being said, I have a restaurant "to-do" list longer than my chica "to-do" list. Hey, a fat man's gotta have priorities... ![]() |

El Ciego; This fat man understands completly - gotta have that meat! BTW, I completly forgot to show my card and ask for the discount. Guys; Ok, I'll never again use the term "a piece of meat" again. It was the steak smothered in pepper sauce. Happy? LVS |

Every meal or snack I’ve had at the SL has been great, taste, filling and fresh. I love the tortilla soup, nachos and the burritos. I have yet to have the opportunity to overnight at the SL. I can’t ever seem to get my reservation in time. Oh well, I still make my way over and enjoy the food and sites…… They always honor the CRT 10% off. |

Thanks Steve. That clears it up. Now if you would have said, "A piece of ass covered in spicy sause", you would have had me wondering. Later, SB |

"A piece of meat" is an incorrect use of the English language when it refers to a steak or hamburger. "A piece of meat" is correctly used when refering to a chica who performs her sexual duties like she has been dead for several days. Then their bodies are strangely revived when it is time to get paid and leave. (One other time when they have some motion is when the cell phone rings) |

LVSteve et al, The item on the menu is the "Beef filet with Smoked Jalapeno Sauce" and it runs for 5.175k colones. It comes with fries. This is one of my absolute favorite meals at Sportsmans and I order it atleast 3-4 times every time I visit SL. Bill Alexander's menu has a great selection and I've never been disappointed with the quality of the food. Other fav's of mine: Filet of fish w Garlic- GawdDAMN, I don't even like fish, but this is AMAZING... if you're a fish person, try this, it will knock your socks off. Fetuccini Alfredo- This is some phenomenal stuff. I actually tried this for the first time this trip, and I've ordered it another 2 times more already. Sea Food Soup- Awesome hang-over food for right when you wake up and want to recover. It definitely does the trick and tastes great! A'ight, that's about it, I love other things on the menu, but my 4th order of fetuccini has just arrived and so it's time to chow down... Ruffnutz |

Don't forget that if you "really" went fishing you can take your filets to the SL and the chef Ariel will cook 'em up any way you like. My favorite is dorado a la plancha. Personally I enjoy everythinhg on the menu...kudos El Patron !! ![]() |
