Post subject: | K&S Cerveceria |
There was a posting in "Modern Drunkard" on line magazine forum about a place called K&S Cerveceria being a micro brewery south of San Jose. Has anyone heard of it or visited it? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah I have been there a few times. It is in curridabat in plaza crystal. About 5km east of the gulch. It is owned by germans so the beer is good, many varieties. They have live music thurs, fri and sat. Lots of hot middle and upper class Ticas. |

The beer is mostly german style lagers. I think there are about 8 different kinds. I was a long time consumer at the many seattle area brewpubs and I think the beer is good at K&S. Sadly they do not make porter , my favorite. The beer comes in 2-3 different size glasses but maybe 2 bucks a pint. In seattle it is around 4 bucks now. I only ate there twice but I cannot recommend the food. Salsa band thurs nights always draws a good crowd. And fri I think is oldies rock and roll. I don't like the rock much so can't say if that night is crowded. |

zman is on the money. Beer is pretty good, as close to the brewpub experience you would find in some parts of the US. They have live music on the weekends. On a related note, that was a good place to take a tica on a date; scored with two separate girls on my two (separate) trips there. Those beers pack a punch. The rough direction for Plaza Crystal is take the main road that runs from San Pedro to Curridabat past Plaza del Sol. Hang a right at the POPS, Plaza Crystal is about 600 meters to the South. K&S is visible from the street. San Jose's hourly motel area is a brief cab ride away. |

I got pretty drunk on the beer and got laid in a cabin up towards Irazu where I froze my ass off. Those details I can remember, but I don't remember the quality of the food. I may have had some German sausage with saurkraut, but it wasn't memorable. |

I went there twice over Memorial Day Weekend and it was pretty good. I had a cold meat and cheese plate and tried most of the beers, went back with a friend and his GF the following night and listened to the band for a while. Another plus is that Plaza Crystal has a great supermercado in it and you can stock up on beer, booze and good CR coffee for a very cheap price. I think I paid $1.80 for a 12 oz bag of coffee. |

I took one of my regular girls to K&S a couple weeks ago (Thursday night). We got there about 12:20. The band sounded good and the dance floor was hopping. Just as we found a booth the music stopped. Within 10 minutes the crowd was heading out and the band was taking their equipment down. We also found out we could only get ceviche to eat since the kitchen was closed and to add insult to injury they only had one of their eight brews available. Nice place but don't wait too late to get there. Maybe Fri/Sat is better later. Wit |
