The Chinese restaurant by Idem is pretty darn good Tin Jo, but as I have said before, I have no desire to impress a hooker with an expensive meal. Its nothing personal, I have no desire to buy my lawyer, accountant, lawn guy, mechanic or any other contractor an expensive meal either.:D :D

Thanks for the recommendation but there are better threads to post this under than the one specifically for us schmucks who like to impress hookers! Unfortunately, I can only do that once or twice a trip (and of course it is really for me). So I will eat at Tin Jo on an off night!

Peace, Love, and to each their own,

Don Rico

Been to Ram Luna many times, also The Monisteria (I prefer Ram Luna). last April went to Jurgens (again) and found it still to be nice, lots of show, changing plates etc mucho. Then a couple of days later my friend and I went to Wellingtons Pub in San Rafael de Heredia. Pricy but probably the top drawer resturant I have found in several years of going to Costa Rica!

Thanks for the info Roneil: i have also been tu Jurgens in San Pedro - both times I was there for lunch. Food and atmosphere at Jurgens was great but a little pricey for what you get (a good addition to the list). Have you been there for dinner?

Peace,

Don Rico

Here's some TA reviews including the old-style Phone # and a map. Caution: don't wear shorts--you'll be turned away (according to one reviewer):

BTW and for what it's worth, here's a TA listing of other Escazu restaurants (all clickthroughs to reviews, maps, contact info):

I would also have to put Churrasco in this category; nice ambiance, good wine list and steaks that are tender enough to cut with a fork. Definitely a good place to take a date; be it pro or non-pro. :D

Yes Don Rico I have been to Jurgens for dinner, seems like it was around a hundred bucks including drinks, appetizers, meals and desserts, for two people. Like I said a bit pricey but quite impressive as well. For those who like to partake they have a cigar and brandy bar as well.

I actually had a great italian dinner at Colonia, service was pretty good, wine passable, the company was great, I don't think she had ever been to a place like that before, tried to make her at ease. eg:Which fork do i use? Would recommend the bar but she didn't seem like the type that would enjoy the piano bar, went back and shagged instead, that was good. What the hell, i was paying for it all, I should have made her sit through the piano bar.
Uncle Hornay, age 83 but still here.
(Just kidding, but I often feel like it.)

Brother roneil; I checked out the fb page for the Wellington Pub and it looks like a pretty good venue to smoke a cigar together with a good whiskey and you say the food is very good? Care to elaborate? :D
