I like getting the pizza at the COSTA DEL SOL sidewalk pizza counter. Great pizza and a fruit drink for about a dollar......good value.

I have tried pizza all over town. Costa del sol is good usually but the best is Pomodoro in san pedro, either one. One is behind the outlet mall and the other is north of the church

As long as we're talking about good pizza outside the Gulch, has anyone tried the pizza at Il Pommodoro in San Pedro? I've heard elsewhere that THEY have the best pizza in town.
It only took a little over a year but finally someone answered my question. Thanks Zman! BTW, I've also heard that the new one behind "Mall Pequeno" (aka Outlet Mall) is the better of the two.

If you mention Pizza Hut, Dominos, or Papa John's, just stay out of the thread, you just don't get it apparently If your happy with conveyor belt pizza, fine for you.

If I started a thread for the best hamburger, I would't expect responses telling me Wendy's. Though that would be close. I believe it is actually the Marriott that has the best burger ( for the one who asked.)

I think in Costa Rica I would have to say it is a tie for best burger. I have had the Marriott's and also the burger at the Capital Grill at the White House. Would rate them about equal as far as the burger goes but like the Capital Grill better for 2 reasons:

1. You can get a wedge of iceberg lettuce with a great blue cheese dressing instead of fries.

2. The area is quieter and more relaxed with a great view. The Marriott Court Yard is located in a shopping center next to the Pista. Have not been to the Marriott in Belen which is most likely more tranquil.

The best burger in town if you include high end spots is Nifa Nifu Argentine in Santa ana

Am confused is it Marriott or Nifa Nifu?

I know the burger at both Marriott and Capital Grill is $9.95. Are you saying include high end spots that NiFu is more than that?

The Marriott at Itzkazu is surely less than $9.95, isn't it? I meant in the normal catagory it is Marriott, in the phu phu hotsy totsy its Nifa Nifu so far for me. I have not tried the Tara burger as of yet. Though I have found that whenever high end restuarants in SJO serve the Omaha Steak burger it seems to be too big for them to cook all the way through.

I had a chef friend of mine tell me, that they cook the rare steaks all wrong here, as the key to rare steak is high temps, not just setting it to the side. He claims that is why rare steaks look somewhat gelatinous in CR.

Now if they would just open a Palm here....

In Liberia the biggest hotel (don't remember the name) had a wood fired pizza oven that produced very thin crust pizzas. I had a slice of an anchovy one as an appetizer which was interesting, but it had potential. I don't remember all of the details, but it was worth trying. I've had lots of pizzas in CR, but this was one of th only ones that was different enough to be memorable.

They have Sbarros in Panama. I took two Pizza's home on Copa the other day. No problem with customs or the airline at either end. The only ones who busted my balls was the recepionist at the Presidents Club (Panama Airport), who was concerned about me eating it there.

The pizza at costa del sol varies, sometimes good sometimes not so good. I like the place 2 storefronts west better.

The pricemart pizza is hard to beat. pomodoro in san pedro is good and the best of all may be a pizza place across from mas x menos in sabinilla .
