Walk out the front door of Zona Blue, make a left, walk about 50 yards up the street and Soda Peru is on the opposite side of the street. :)

You were at Chelles. One of the oldest sodas in San Jose.

Anybody care to suggest a place close to the gulch for food like Soda Peru, but for dinner? Last visit I was looking for a place to take a chica for a typical CR dinner (comida tipica) and made the mistake of listening to my taxi driver. We wound somewhere north of town (San Mateo, maybe?) at a place called La Doña something that was ok, but not nearly what I was looking for. Besides that, I got the distinct impression they don't like those kinds of girls in their establishment.

Personally, I like to eat lunch here everyday. This is the best fresh Sea Bass I have ever had. They have awesome prices. Like $4 for Sea Bass lunch. Incredible. Just a great place to eat.

Definitley one of my favorites. It may be one of the best restaurants in San Jose for any meal. It comares very favorably to the Peruvian restaurants in Lima pretty much on the same level. I wish I had a bowl of seafood soup right now.rbc100

I enjoyed a platter of Spaghetti Marisco for lunch this afternoon for 2500 C. The excellent quality of food and value at Soda Peru has not diminished.

BlueDevil, Good to see Soda Peru get a bump. Agree that this may be one of the better Soda's in SJ.

Last trip I had the pleasure of introducing a couple of darlins from Idem to Soda Peru, we sampled the Seafood Soup, Shrimp Soup (cream base)both served w/rice on the side, Fried Sea Bass accompanied with fried yucca. And for lovers of heat they have a nice hot red sauce (think Vietnamese Rooster Sauce) on the table.

This should be on the "Must Do" list of places to dine.

I tried the ceviche there and thought it was aweful. I love ceviche. If you want good ceviche, try Princesa Marina or Del Mar (across the street from DR). Del Mar is a bit pricey at 3,000¢.
