I walked by a rather dark and well secured news cafe yesterday. We are talking about the place below Hotel Presidente, right?

Yeah, the News Cafe is/was/is the Presidente's restaurant. The reports had it being closed for good, has that changed?

I walked by it two days ago and it was shuttered in mid-afternoon. Had a huge sign up, just like the one that someone posted a photo of. Sure looked closed up to me

We went into the hotel and the bar was open when I took the photo last week, there were a few people in there drinking and wingman said he saw them serving food to a couple the day before. I didn't take time to translate the big sign they had out front but it seems they are "semi-open".

I read the sign. If I remember, they said something about the laws changing and they weren't in compliance even after serving great meals for 12 years. They are working towards opening again, but they don't have a definite date. They love their customers and they hope to be serving them once again. Signed your friends forever or longtime friends.

I read it walking by, so that's not a word for word translation, it's more like me scanning it as I walked by and remembering the highlights. That should give a good gist, it was a long message!

Walked by the News Cafe on Monday about 2:30 in the afternoon and it appeared the bar was open and I saw a few tables occupied but could see if they were serving food. At the same time the El Patio at the Balmoral was doing a good business.

I saw a couple sitting in the dark drinking a coke. I thought they were just chillin' and not really customers as there was nobody else around like waiters.

The best breakfast is under a palapa right at the beach just about a hour or so after sunrise, clear blue sky's, about 75 degrees, all the locals are out for the morning walk on the beach the coffee is delicious,you have a fresh pack of marlboro lights. You don't really smoke but the occasion calls for you to fire one up and you are the only one in the resturaunt. Really how bad can somebody Phuck up bacon and eggs.
