Carl Karcher Enterprises owns Carl's Jr as well as Hardees and the Mexican fast food chain Green Burrito which is often found inside a Carl's Jr store. Carl's joins other fast food places like McDonald's (San Bernardino), Del Taco (Barstow), Taco Bell (San Bernardino) as California fast food inventions. So much for the home of Tofu sandwiches.

Next to IN-N-OUT Carl's produces the best hamburger around (IMHO). The hamburgers here actually taste the same here as the hamburgers do in the US.

The old Hardee's downtown was replaced by Wendy's. It used to be an incredible place to watch the trim and fit bodies walking to work in the morning.

Not a burger, but I was surprised to see a Pollo Tropical the other day in San Jose.

For those not hip to this Floribbean neo-traditional chain, here 'tis:

Good Burger and onion rings. They have pretty good service. You get a number to take to you table and they bring it to you. Plus all the refills you want for Free. Good to have them in Costa Rica. Bring on the Whataburger and Kripsy Kreme.

TBD,
The Bigg Dogg

No Dogg, I don't wanna see no krispy Kreme in Costa Rica! I'm in good shape and have a flat stomach. That would change quickly.

I'll have to update my CPR rating. What is the number for 911 in San Jose?
Krispy Kreme, UMMM, I could eat a dozen at one sitting right now.

Carl's Jr --- Avenida 2da Costado Oeste Parque Central.

I ate here recently, having passed several other nearby fast food places, hoping to get a decent burger. I had the 'Big Carl' double burger they were advertising, combo @ 3200 colones. It was a poor burger, fast food slop. I only ate half, decided this meal was not worthy of my appetite, and left to search for another restaurant.

I absolutely understand the near-addictive hunger for fried meat and grease (this is not a joke--Brother BKTuna's Philly cheese steaks are one minute from Heaven) but please consider enjoying Latin quick-food while on vacation. Get damn near the same thing in a taco shell--that doesn't appeal to your primal instincts? PM me pronto...we'll talk.

Fried eggs, fried Turrialba cheese, pinto, salcichon, toast and home made chilera. That is what breakfast is all about.
