It can happen anywhere...years ago I took my favorita at the time to Fridays, near the Mall de San Pedro, for lunch. She was 22, and I was 48 (but looked about 40/42). We got very poor service, and the waiter made a rude remark to my chica in Spanish. So...it can happen anywhere! Phuckin Fridays...WTF?! Needless to say, I've never gone back there since.

The girls here in CR are not gutter trash. That is what we have in the states. Sorry those words bother me?

Agreed they shouldn't be classified as gutter trash but nor should "girls in Costa Rica" be lumped in with the prostitutes in our favorite mongering spots. What I love about this forum is that if you read the posts, you can learn from them and maximize your time, value for dollar, and fun factor for your visits to CR. Short lesson here - Jurgens is not a monger friendly restaurant. Anyone with good sense could tell that when you walk in the door. They do not hate gringos (I have had fine meals there with good service). As an aside - service is Costa Rica is far below what we expect in the US - so when I say "good service" I mean good for Costa Rica.

No one has classified girls in Costa Rica as "gutter trash". What was posted was



Argue with the terminology if you will but most Ticos, including the males who patronize prostitutes, do not respects girls who work as prostitutes.The reason many of the girls give for saying no when you ask to take a picture is "my family and friends do not know what I do and they would not accept me if they found out" That should give you some inclination of how the majority of Ticos view working girls.



Why would those words bother you when speaking about girls in Costa Rica but you find it acceptable to pin that label on girls in the states?

Does not want the family to find out? One of their yarns oft heard by us. How about the Tico boyfriends they are living with? You think he does not know? Or if at home, with their brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers? Neighbors? You really think they don't know what's up? You really think she thinks her significant others don't know what she's doing. You think she's really worried about her family finding her picture on a gringo internet site? She's worried about the other girls finding her on CRT's site when one of us allows one of them to surf the photo's so they don't tell her she was stupid.

Her family/significant knows she ain't bringing home that kind of cash working at Mas a Menos from 7 pm until she gets dropped in a cab at 3 am dressed to the nines.

End of May, I was at the hospital in Quepos with my semi's 5 year old, his asthma was out of control. 20 minutes down time between each inhaler treatment. We are across the street during one of the lull's, having a snack at Soda Hospital, you know the place. Her really handsome but extremely misbehaved little boy is talking to her and he calls her a puta. I tell her to smack him, she says no, people watching. So what? Where does he get that anyway? The barrio she says, that's how they talk. At 5? I doubt that version, somebody is calling her a puta in his presence, maybe in a heated moment. Five minutes later he does it again. I did what I could kindly to his psyche in my poor Spanish.

The families I think, for their own sanity and self respect, I guess, act like the daughter/sister is a good little girl and they must act like they are insulted by any other notion, but they know. How can they not know. I have been involved with too many homies and their families. IQ's on average are the same, of course, from the Estados to the Isthmus, uneducated possibly, but stupid? Probably not, whether they're from SJ or out on the finca. Maybe they are in denial, but they know. What it is is called the Blind Eye.

And they say, in their minds, "thanks bebe" for bringing home more money on a weekend than the "breadwinner" does in three weeks. I agree with them--how else could you handle it? It's called survival with honor. Their "culture" was mentioned in a previous post. Apropos.

Thats not true. I go there all the time. They love me and my friends. BTW... I have worn shorts there on a number of occasions and have NEVER been turned away. The service is great.

Another place I go all the time and have only received great service.

Let's just say that some guys don't need to be taking the "favoritas" to some restaurants. Just sticks out too much.. Not all guy but a pretty good majority.

As far as friends and relatives knowing/not knowing how the Chica makes her money--may I introduce the Nixon-era phrase "plausible deniability"? Photos in particular have a nasty habit of showing up on the 'Net where they haunt forever--and destroying any illusions of the family and friends. We've had this discussion here before.

You have a point, and the family or friend may be shocked by the image, but I doubt they'd be shocked to find out.

Yeah, the family may know what's going on in some case, what they don't like is to have that fact publicly flaunted. The Ticos use love motels and MP's, they don't trot around town with their puta in tow.
