Who would come to Costa Rica and look for German food?

That is analogous to saying "Why would anyone eat Thai (or Mexican, or Italian, or French) food in the United States? Do you think that expatriates and immigrants that can cook can only live in the US? It is a global world.

Thank you!!!!!!!

I think a lot of people don't understand the angle of living here and food likes too. If you live in major cities in the States, you have marvelous opportunities for so much good ethnic food. Down here, it might not be top notch all the time, but it is nice to have different things for a change. I have read people that are very critical of some places here that I like, and I understand it. But you take what is available and enjoy the diversity. :D

Jurgens is one of the better restauraants in town, Barrio Dent behind the Subaru dealership one block off the main road and four blocks west of Mall San Pedro.

never really sought out german food but would be game to try. i will eat just about any kind of food out there.
notable passes for me at this point are scottish cuisine. wtf with haggis and porridge? although on whiskey they rule.
not a big fan of cajun, creole low country stuff either. everyone raves so much i have relented five times or so and just don't get it.

I'm of Scottish decent but I don't get haggis either. It's like kimchee, anything that is buried for a while may not be palatable. Where is your favorite Japanese place in San Jose? It's my favorite food .

PS Holy resurected thread, Batman!

PPS I would be curious if these - or any Greman res'ts exist in the greater SJ area

Jurgens is more of a steak house, american food, just owned by a german. When I say german, I'm looking for home made bratwurst, kraut, fried oysters, and other artery clogging faves. I do like Jurgens, but I don't think they serve any of that, although the deep fried brie is great.

I use to go to fuji all the time, and I'm not a cheap person, but the prices are just out of control. Last time I was there it cost me like $50 for lunch, just for myself. Granted it was a big lunch, but would cost half that much at any of the other sushi joints in the city.
