I think that what Brother ID was getting at is the absence of the swirl of whipped cream on top. I'd say you have Irish-esque coffee. But then I'm an inveterate smart-ass. But Brother go with what you know--who am I to say?...

Wow that does sound good. I'll try that the next cool night we get down here in Houston.

Not that I'm a lush or anything but always travel around CR with a hip flask so I can introduce guys to a higher-end booze than may be available at a venue or than they are used to--FdC 18 for example. My notion of sharing...discreetly, natch--not looking to steal sales from anyone.

Amigo, with all due respect that is coffee with a shot of Irish whiskey added. Begora it is not Irish coffee mind you. :P

So if get some coffee from Manolos and add a wee dram of Irish whiskey from my flask, that is not making Irish coffee?

No that is having a cup of coffee with a shot of Irish whiskey. There a a lot of recipes out there just google "Irish Coffee" and you will most likely not find a single one that says take a cup of coffee and add a shot of Irish whiskey. Hell, Irish Coffee is not even served in a coffee cup.

Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four
essential food groups:
alcohol, caffeine, sugar and fat.

Your version lacks two essential food groups. Notice the word glass not cup.
