The maker of Absinthe (M. P. Roux) is more aggressively marketing it in the US--they have gift packs of the hooch, a glass and spoon. 2 varieties available (don't know which one Lady Asta uses)--Absente is 110 proof; Grand Absente is 138 proof. Talk about blow the roof off the sucka! You do have to provide the sugar cubes though.

My wife is Czech and I used to smuggle bottles of it back from Prague over the past 10 years when it was still banned in the US. Still have a S*itload of it in my bar

All of the bottles I own are 140 proof - and it doens't go down smooth - even with multiple sugar cubes

It'll kick your A** though!

The person who paid $50 a shot sounds like the same guy who wanted to pay Mia $5000 to do her. Whoops, didn't mean to start all that up again.

Last time I checked, its $60/shot at the HLH, not $50. I gave Matt a bottle of Absynthe as a gift to the new bar on my last trip. Forgot to give him the sugar cubes. :-)
