the Embassy is on the right side of the road about 5 blocks after you cross over the Hwy that circumnavigates around SJ (get off the bus where Avenida 0 forks to the left and continue walking straight 1 short block until you see the Embassy on the right). The bus takes about 20-25 minutes and leaves from the either the large park just south of Pantera Rosa (Gonzalez Viquez) or the Estacion Pacifico which is located just a couple of blocks north of Kamur (if any of you remember where that is, or 4-5 blocks south of Arcadas and Molino Rojo if that works better for you).

The Pavas bus, which is what you want to take to the Embassy, starts from the south side of Coca Cola. The buses are red and white.

Depending on traffic it would take 10 to 15 minutes by cab and cost about 2500 colones. Bus is about 200 colones.

I went to Sneaky Pete's one time and the food was good but when I showed him my CRT Card I could have swore he said there is not much I can do for you. I will try him one more time and get clarification.

Any time you have a problem with getting the advertised CRT discount let Admin 1 know.

To be honest with you I don't have good hearing and Sneaky Pete in my opinion is hard to understand at times. Maybe I misunderstood him. Next time in SJO I will go again and report what happens unless another brother wants to do that sooner.

woops. I done forgot to post about my experience at Pete's.....

To begin with, it's within walking distance of a little place which was like 2000 - - -3000C ride: Del Colegio Humbolt 175 norte 50 oeste numero 23, Rohrmoser from Hotel La Amistad. That was a non-maria price and I'm not positive what my ever so multi tasking head really did.....and those directions will not take you to the Embassy....but they darn sure will take ya right past it.....anyhow....it's like a 2min walk to the bus stop to go back and Pete's is right up the street from the bus stop which is just across from a McDonald's as I recall.

Now, I had the burger at Pete's; got the CRT discount; and the burger was delightful. The bus ride back takes you to the other side of Central Market and across from a big ass hospital whose name I have fogged out....but it's right there.....it's a little walk from the bus stop back to Amistad.....you can take another bus if you care to use up more time; or take a cheap cab for under 1000c or just hike.

anyway......the burger was good; the diner was my kinda place.....cept it is a bit out of the way just to go grab a burger......*shrug* 8)

Excellent reportage from Brother Steven1; the kind we depend on.

I have enjoyed the sliders at Sneaky Petes. It is also a good breakfast place.

I'm meeting some friends here in Bonita Springs, Florida tomorrow night and the name of the place is Sneaky Petes as well. I wonder if they're connected or not.

Brother DRD--Maybe but doubtful. Just for shits/and/grins, I Googled "Sneaky Pete's" and came up with a ton of venues all over the US, mostly bars but also a sneaker seller, a pool cue maker, etc. etc. Natch, you could always ask.

James has the place up for sale and wants to try again in another country in Central America. If I hear he actually closes or changes hands, I'll post with that info.

I asked a few people there and nobody knew what I was talking about Jazz. So I'm going with no relation.

I saw James on Friday, he's closed the doors. It may reopen with a new owner, but I'm not sure what the concept will be. One thing for sure, Sneaky Pete's is history. Admin. if you like email him to confirm, but yesterday when I drove by the windows were papered up and James has a bus ticket out of the country for Wednesday.
