The place Hank is referring to after the Mas/Manos is called Wong's. If the old addage of telling if a Chinese restaurant is any good......see how many Chinese people eat there. This place has mostly Chinese people eating. The soups are very good as are most of their dishes. The prive is significantly cheaper than Tin Jo and the quality is probably better. There is also an upscale (EXPENSIVE) Chinese restaurant in Escazu called villa Rey which is VERY GOOD .It is on the main road after the Mas/Manos on the other side. They also deliver to Escazu.

tried wongs on a recommendation last week and can it blows that tin ho out of the water. not exactly your five star dining exp but the food was great. really enjoyed the curry.

Don Wang is located on calle 11 near Tin Jo. Wong's is on avenida central just east of Mas x Menos.

Isla Verde Hotel has a Chinese restaurant on the ground floor, and it's decent. We found it last night when trying to find a place open on Sunday night.

Very nice facility, nice decor, good service It was almost empty when we got there except for a Chinese couple eating dinner.

Tab for 4 people came to 56 dollars, service charge included.

Isla Verde Hotel is a couple of blocks from the US Embassy, on the same street in fact.

For some reason Pavas seems to have the greatest concentration of Chinese restaurants. Another decent one right near Isla Verde is Villa Bonita. It is next to the shopping center that is directly across from the Embassy. It is on the street that is the back of the shopping center.

I ate at Wongs in April. They have dim sum. Food was pretty good & very reasonable. Recommended by Freebird.

I will never venture into Tin Jo again, food sucked. Mi novia of the moment was kind enough not to comment on it but I could tell she did not enjoy her meal either.

Another good Chinese restaurant is Mil Sabores. Have one on Paseo Colon at about calle 22 and another on the road to Escazu centro just before Plaza Atlantis.

Just to avoid confusion was the restaurant on Calle 11 just south of the Freebird (Wangs) or on avenida central north a couple of blocks and then east one block from the Freebird (Wongs)?

Downtown, the only good place that I have eaten Chinese food is across from the Baja Beach Club, which is two doors down from Papi's (Dos Gringos). It's in the middle of the block. They have a lunch buffet, but I've never tried it here. Sorry, don't know the name.
