I met Zman last week in San Jose. He was at the New York bar to grab the free drink at happy hour. He reminded me that he was the one who made the remarks regarding VB's wardrobe (written earlier in this thread). I mentioned that it was a bit ironic since he was wearing a t-shirt and jeans and plastic sandals available at Walmart, while earlier I had seen VB at leasting sporting a golf shirt with a collar.

He said it was just a couple of comments made in fun, I pointed out why ID and others might view it as more of a personal attack. I'm not sure he got it. He had a few other interesting theories regarding the board that I know to be without foundation. Seems like a nice enough guy that just doesn't have his facts straight and might have something a little off kilter.

I have been called worse than a little off kilter. Many here are, some more than others. I would put my facts up against yours anyday. But you are probably right about my lack of knowledge about the ownership of CRT.

I could share my observations about you also in a public forum but I choose not to.

Just because I said you looked like John Candy you do not have to publicly insult me. Chuck Norris and I warned you about walking from the DR to the Hotel Castillo late at night but you would not listen.

Crt people are the same as any other group of gringos. Some nice , some not so nice.

I almost always wear a nice dress shirt at night with good shoes, not white tennies. The night you mentioned I was wearing a Calvin Klien black tee shirt and Tommy jeans, both expensive and stylish and the clogs are considered stylish by some.

I told you I should have prefaced my remarks about VB by saying that he seems like a classy guy with classy tastes. Classy taste in women, restaurants etc...that is why I find his taste in clothes to be strange. But give VB credit he has been dressing much better.

Dude, Zman, do you ever post sober?
A little off kilter? I was being kind. Your conspiracy theories of CRT ownwership are ridiculous and obviously unfounded.

Yes you warned me about walking to Hotel Castillo, yet at ten at night or ten in the a.m. I think I was Ok, in fact no problems. I spent a dollar on a taxi at times I was more concerned about. After over 50 trips I really appreciate your advice on when to take a cab.

Go ahead and share your observations, you've already made the gordo reference, I'm not sure fat balding old guys in glass houses should throw stones, but go ahead.

You are also at least 3 for 3 for tshirts with me, sorry if I didn't recongnize your "expensive" and "stylish" calvin klein and tommy ware. I'm sure the 55 plus year old latina you were making out with in Key Largo last week appreciates the tag on your tshirt.

Don't tell me what you should have said about VB, be a man and apoligize, at least to him.

For the record, I often wear t-shirts in San Jose, usually with khakis but flame away. Or redirect your energy to more helpful posts that someone with your knowledge and experience has made before and is capable of making again.

This thread raises some serious questions- if I spend all my money on classy t-shirts will I have no money left and have to attend "free drink!" at NYB and settle for 55 yr. old chica retirees? What time is that event and what should I wear? Who is this Chuck Norris impersonator? CRT conspiracy theories, please post! Isn't CRT owned by the Chinese who use profits to fund private Pai Gow marathons and buy cigarettes? Last time I saw VB he was sporting an 18 yr. old on one arm and a 19 yr. old on the other and bought me a drink, dammit I forgot to notice his shoes or shirt! Who is Greengo and what does he wear? :?

Conspiracy Theories on Ownership... What is this WHO SHOT JFK?

First I heard of this one...

Hmmm I've run every party, knock myself out killing myself when there are technical issues to fix servers etc..

Handle every customer service issue personally

Met 100's if not thousands of VIP members through the years

Spoken or return phone calls personall.

Hung, traveled, vacationed all over the globe with again over 100 CRT guys..

BUT I'm just a front man.....  I'm sure its owned by someone else just so I can lose all my hair and whatever is left turned gray, lose sleep, have more aggravation than you will ever know...

Yep YOU GOT IT ZMAN... Wheres Florida what the emoticons when you need them...

NOW Back to Ball Shaving! :!:

Yes. With economic conditions the way they are, it is better to look good than to have money. Never turn down a free drink and 55 year old chicas need loving too. Plus they are cheap. 5 or 10 dollars for an hour or two of passion. So free drink, inexpensive women, cab ride, $11 - $12 dollar evening. Not a bad investments in my book.

Expensive brand name clothes. Make sure that the branding is very visible. No cheap knockoffs accepted.

It really is Chuck Norris. He is such a bad ass that no one will call him out for mongering for fear he will kill them.

You have found out Admin's secret. The recent round of server problems was actually caused by the sportsbook site he runs of the server as well. He uses the credit card information from our signups to commit fraud to pay for his real passion, Pai Gow at the Horseshoe. As for his cigarettes, he is smoking some off brand. Least they are lights and menthol.

You will never be a legend like VB because you didn't check his shirt and footwear. How do you think he gets women like that? Looks? Money? No, he is wearing something fashionable and shoes with nice arch support. That is what chicas want.

My instincts tell me he is a man with a slightly green cast to his face that moves often. As for what he wears, I hope it is name brand at least. It is now well established, the more designer names you wear, the more chicas you get.

I hope I have answered all your questions and you can now sleep easier at night. :D

Cheers!

Besides Lionking & Spanky I think he just pays chicas to do it in the jacuzzi. :)

I heard rumor years ago that crt owned zb and vice-versa, once even that VB was actually admin1. (must have been before the Chinese bought him out.)

Damn....is this thread still alive. By the time this stupid thread dies the food at the Grand d' Oro will turn to shit. I started this as a restaurant review and now we have my mode of dress insulted, our Admin insulted,Senordos insulted for telling the truth, something about the Chinese mafia and Florida's balls. What's next. To the gentleman who first picked on my clothing....... You better be careful coming out of the NYB and the "high-end" MPs I hear you frequent with expensive outfits. Some of the tico druggies that hang around outside would kill for a Calvin Klein teeshirt.

Just a thought on older ladies at New york bar. Last year I met two ticas there, one in her early 30's and one in early 40's. They were extremely nice, good looking, easy to talk to and joinly charged $75 for both. They left my room at DR three hours later. They would have stayed longer, but I was tired. I payed their taxi home and had a great memory.

John Candy calling someone else fat.............now that is really funny.

My friend and I were just trying to be helpful when we suggested it was dangerous to walk from the DR to the castillo late at night. We had no idea how many times you have visited. But it is dangerous and sooner or later you will find out.

Heck a 55yr old senora is on the young side for me.

Actually I am doing quite well for my age, you on the other hand ????????

I am always amazed about the number of gringos who come to CR and make no effort to learn the language, or to dress in the manner of the culture in which they live, do not learn how to dance or to make any effort to immerse themselves into the culture they claim they admire.

So many claim it is way safer in CR than in the states but they are afraid to go to Ticos places. Go figure.

All I can do is to post and state by opinions based on my 4 yrs here and by reading the paper everyday.

All I said about CRT was that I heard the owner was a lawyer and that he had made so much money from CRT that he had given up his law practice. Why is that a conspiracy theory?? You hear many things here in CR and that may be incorrect.

And I think I know who greengo is.......

I reviewed both the restaurant and the hotel Grano d'Oro in 2005, and I'm very glad to hear that they're still serving excellent food in an elegant ambience. :D

The lunch on the patio can be spectacular. You'll see many middle-aged ticas, dressed in fashion daytime wear, sipping a cocktail and truly lingering over lunch...all pura vida.

The veal medallions stuffed with gorgonzola were delicious. I've also eaten a couple of truly excellent chicken dishes there and more than one outstanding dessert.

By the way... if bringing a chica back to your room is not on your genda, try a stay at the Grano d"oro. This former coffee baron's mansion is furnished elegantly with period antiques. Some rooms have jacuzzis. All the first-floor rooms have little private patios for your smoking enjoyment. The service is absolutely first-class. However, as someone mentioned above, this hotel isn't chica friendly. In fact, I would call it "chica hostile." :( But, if you're going to be spending most of your time in the P. Colon area MPs, the G. d'O. can't be beat. Fantastic hotel and restaurant. Nice wine list, too!

El C if you have not been there since 2005 you need to treat yourself to a return visit for lunch or dinner. It has been completely remodeled and it is spectacular. The garden patio is not quite as charming but it it is still very nice.

If you remember the prices in 2005 prepare yourself for sticker shock
