Fried whole fish dipped in mixture of ketchup and mayonaise.

The whole menu at SL is good also. Not cheap, but priced OK for the good quality and service.

LVSteve,

The SL restaurant has always been a favorite on mine.

The SL chef did a bang-up job on the remainder of the Dorado we caught in Jaco...too bad you missed out on dinner! I guess you'll have to wait until Wingnut and I make another fishing trip and bring home another load of fish.

Had dinner at the SL last night and tried LVSteve's famous
Quote:
a piece of meat smothered in a spicy sauce, served with a small salad and fries
which has since been identified as Beef fillet with Smoked Jalapeño Sauce. Found it really tasty and enjoyed the meal very much. The beef was a bit on the chewy side but definitely much less so than most beef you get in CR.

I was fortunate enough to be a guest of BlueDevil and Wingnut when the chef cooked up the Dorado they had caught in Jaco. The SL chef did a first rate job on cooking it and the fish and side dishes were great. Kudos to Chef Ariel and many thanks for BlueDevil and Wingnut for the fish and sharing it.

Next time you are in SJ try our special at the Cardboard Inns. "Discarded half burrito con la carne estropeada." We give a 50% discount to CRT members......or anyone else for that matter. Please note: menu changes hour to hour depending upon when our deliveries are thrown our way. Be sure to also ask about the "Homeless stew".....for real men only. On Saturday nights a third filled bottle of wine is served with entres for only 600 colones additional. Cash only.

The chicken cordon bleu is very good. I also eat the Johnsonville Brat hotdog plate every Sunday during football.

Just curious how late the restaurant stays open at the SL? My flight will arrive around 9PM and I'm hoping to get to the hotel by 10:30, or so. Looks like the flight won't be providing dinner, so will 10:30 be too late for the spicey piece o' meat?

Concerned about rum & coke and sex on an empty stomach,

The grilled chicken in salsa de naranja is excellent, Got a lesson on its preparation from Ariel a few days ago. He is an excellent chef and a great guy

i had mixed reviews , my first meal was a chicken ceasar salad, it came out great topped with parm and had a great taste. So the next day i ordered the same meal...cant get off a winner, what i got was nothing like the first one!!! my guess they ran out of ceasar dressing and they tried to make it with something they mixed up in the kitchen, not really sure what it was , i sent it back and it came back with the same way only this time it was worst, they added more of the same dressing all over the top of the chicken...the server didnt speak enghish and my guess didnt care for me due to me sending it back(my guess) i never seen her again and had to chase her down for my bill....my review of the sportsmen has changed ..i had fun times the 3 times i was there , seen about 5 to 8 eight girls in the bar and even seen "maria blow job" i bet sports and it was nice be able to put in my action and not leave my seat in the bar...bill was cool and except for the one meal ..i had a outstanding time there !!!

I'll have to add the shrimp in garlic to the fish in garlic (see why I need to pay for sex?? See???) as a great SL dish. I've had it twice, was considering the steak in pepper sauce suggestion but I'm SO addicted to garlic...

I plan to go hunting in the Del Rey tonight for a toda la noche sweetie back here if one doesn't show up to my liking soon. :)

I love all kinds of authentic hispanic foods that are not readily on the menu, so I can say that I know a bit about who REALLY knows how to cook at SL...

Ariel-- This mo'fo' can COOK!! Ask him to make you some rice and beans, and he'll cook up a storm!! Ninja-chef!

There is a Colombiana that cooks, and I think her name is MARIA... gawddamn, this chick makes magic!! I always ask her to make me chuletas, arroz con frijoles, tapacones con aguacate... If I told you I've been close to licking the plate, I wouldn't be lying... If cooking skills were an important value for a relationship, I'd marry this woman today!!

Oh, and by the way, the Fetuccini Alfredo at the SL is to die for... Kudos, Bill!!

I try to order when Ariel is cooking. I have gotten unidentifiable food from the columbiana. I can remember a few folks refusing to eat their burger.
