A new American style breakfast restaurant has opened downtown that I strongly recommend. It is located diagonally across the street from ZB. (How convenient) Now our members can go there for a great breakfast, then dine on our favorite ZB chicas, and top off the day with lunch at Soda Peru. Roman orgys have nothing on CRT guys.

If you are looking for a fancy environment in which to eat, then wait a while while they continue to fix up the large open space. If you want great food then go now.I had an omlette with a spicy sausage, mushrooms, onions, and chedder cheese. It was served with home fries, and a homemade bisquit. The cost was around 3000 colones with unlimited coffee. I could hardly move afterwards. They also serve different things like chicken fried steak with 3 eggs. (Latino Heat will love it) Argentinian steak and eggs, bisquits and gravy and all sorts of egg dishes.Bruce is a CRT member who will be offering a CRT discount once he gets settled. He just opened on Saturday.

Sounds like it worth checking out. Any info on hours of operation and menu items other than breakfast?

They say they serve breakfast and lunch all day, however the ONLY lunch item is hamburgers which Bruce tells me are the best in CR.

From my experience and for my taste, this is a pretty low bar (although admittedly, the NYB makes a decent burger). However, if Bruce is dedicated to serving authentic American food, then he may just be on to something. I think I will try it out this weekend. I could do for a good burger between sessions with Pamela and Karen.

Hey VB- when you say "American style" does that mean American eggs?

I've been suspicious about the eggs in CR and have never tried them...

Why are you "suspicious" about Costa Rican eggs? The eggs are fine the problem is finding cooks who can prepare fried eggs over easy. The like to scramble eggs and if you want them fried they have trouble not over cooking them.

i eat the eggs here almost daily for a year. They are fine and I actually think taste better. I like the pork and chicken better also, less hormones and more fat. The beef does suck though.

I had breakfast there today around noon - breakfast is served all day till about 4pm when they close.

I went with a basic scrambled egg and bacon breakfast, home fries and biscuit. 3400 Colones. Three eggs and four thick pieces of Hormel Black Label bacon. Real American - size stomach stuffing breakfast. They are plannig to keep rice and beans OFF the menu, which I think may be a mistake. A couple of guys walked in with a chica while I was there, and there was nothing she liked on the menu, so they left. These guys were repeats, and were looking to order the burgers they had had previously. I was told they make the burgers out of Argentinian beef. Hopefully will get a chance to sample one.

The place still has some kinks to work out. If they do, they should do well, as an American diner - type restaurant is hard to come by in the area.
