Word on the street  is that the Bar at Shannon Restaurant has been shut down by the municipality. The restaurant is still open serving food but no alcohol.

Supposedly they were told officially they were not having a great enough percentage of food sales to total sales. Unofficially it seems that the problem might be worked out if certain "arrangements" were made.

Bar on the corner was the Cafe Morazan which catered to mainly a gay crowd. Shannon is next door, closer to the HDR, that was a Chinese restaurant. The Shannon restaurant is still open they just can't serve booze..

Do you think the official letter from the municipality indicated the name of the person they will have to pay off to reinstate their license?

I walked by yesterday afternoon. There were people at the tables eating and a couple of people sitting at the bar. I didn't notice if the bar people were drinking or just sitting.

Hey Paco, the Shannon Restaurant just called and said you can return to CR now to pick up your order.

I ate lunch there yesterday ( monday) and they still cannot serve alcohol.

I talked to the owner about the problem . It is a license problem, the authorities say it is more of a bar than a restaurant so until further inspections are completed ,, no booze.

It may be days or it may be weeks or even months. He doesn't know and he claims they are not looking for bribes.

"And he claims that they are not looking for bribes." Lol this is ther funny post of the week.

I do not know the owners of Shannons, but they must be new to CR biz 101. He should have his lawyer offer a "consulting" fee to whoever is in charge. Then it will magically be a restaurant again.

The owner of Shannon's is a street wise Irishman, via New York, who knows how to be diplomatic and not put his business out on street.

Lets just leave it that.

Out of curiosity, does anybody know what the required percentage of alcohol to food sales are in SJ?

I reside in a town of 10k in the heart of Dallas, we have over 180 restaurants/drinking establishments (yes 180) our breakdown here is 60/40 food to alcohol, you would be amazed at how one can program your point of sale software to indicate food sales
