It's funny how different people here have different experiences at restaurants and with ho's. Someone here said they were not impressed with El Chicote. I've eaten at El Chicote and loved it, it is a little pricey but it's a fancy place, eat outside on the porch if you can, nice atmosphere.
I've eaten at Mac's perhaps 3 times, I found the food "good", not bad or great. Nothing to complain about but nothing to rave about. The waitresses were cute, but it's Costa Rica, most of them are. I didn't get the impression they are available. Lot's of N. Americans hang out there and hook up with each other. You can go there and meet a new friend or suffer an agonizing boring story...They often have good live music at night.
Be careful of that Argentinian Steakhouse across the park, they cost a royal fortune and many items you have to pay extra for, even after getting skinned at the door. I confess the food was excellent, but DEFINITELY not worth the price. I've eaten at equal or better Argentinian steak houses in the states and paid much less...
