Amigo please tell me any restaurant in CR that has the not had a dramatic increase in prices over the last 3 years. From the humblest of local sodas to the high end 5 star restaurants they all have felt the dramatic increase of food prices as well as the semi-yearly government mandated wage increases.

I have no argument with your review as it was an honest picture of what you felt. My argument with you is that you said those who had posted positive reviews of the restaurant had an ulterior motive. I find that insulting and it added no legitimate value to your review.

You yourself have stipulated the same about the Chubb's Shill. So, that's a bit of the pot calling the kettle black. :o But, fair enough, let's leave that as one possible motivation. :)

What I said in the Chubbs thread was

A poster who participates in no other forums on the board and confines his remarks solely to the promotion of a single business is more likely a shill.

I do not believes that description applies to anyone who posted about El Chicote anymore then it applies to you for your favorable review of Esquina de Buenas Aires.

That is not the only thing you have said about the Chubbs Shill and while I do enjoy the repartee, I don't have the luxury of being retired, allowing me time to sift though lots of posts for these nuggets from the past. If the statment does not apply to you, just skip over it.

"Why can't everyone just get along?" - Rodney King

Ok, So why can't we all apply here the same principle we do with a particular girl review - "YMMV".

As in women, our taste in food differs, as does what one might feel is expensive may be considered cheap by another.

I'll tell you what: I will be making my first visit to CR the end of January. I will eat at both restaurants and will post an unbiased review after I get back.

fair enough, but the review was written in the immediate aftermath of an extremely disappointing dining experiene. The meals were so bad we openly wondered WTF happened to what was supposed to be a marvelous dining experience. As far as you being insulted, all i can say is: If you can dish it out.......... And i think most of us could attest that you have done some dishing on numerous occasions. :D

I went there with Timbones and the guys. I had the Tenderloin Steak. $30. A typical Costa Rican steak. Flavorless. About 2 times as thick as a SL Tico Platter steak. Which SL charges $6 for. The refried beans were cold. The imported NY Strip from the U.S was actually $50.

Comparing El Chicote to La Esquina just isn't fair. La Esquina has a far superior steak. Actually better then the beef here in the U.S. imo. Don't even try to compare an Argentinean steak to a Costa Rican steak. No contest.
