What did surprise me was that the ribs were $7k colones, the chicken $6k, and add two beers apiece and the tab was close to $40.

$40?

Those of us who are JR vets ( ) know that there's a lunch special (Mon-Fri only, 11am-3pm). For 3,500¢, you get your choice of meat (1/2 rack of ribs, chicken, steak, etc.) and pick 2 sides (I ALWAYS go with potato skins and coleslaw-never been sick in 10+ trips).

BTW, You have to ask for the lunch special, they want you to order the $14 ribs instead of the $7 ones. It's called "EXECUTIVE LUNCH SPECIAL".

Was there with my girl on Monday midday. Another good meal. The service there is a little slow, but ok. We both had the ribs and a soft drink each. Tab was a little under 9,000¢ (~$17). Not cheap, but not too crazy. Honestly, I don't think I will ever go there without getting the special. The food is good, but ribs are not worth $20/person (+ 26%, or whatever it is, taxes) in my opinion.

At dinner a fullrack sides and a couple of beers will run 20 bucks all said and done. Not cheap but not out of line with other good restaurant options in San Jose. The half rack lunch special is certainly a bargain. The baby backs are definitely thr option there.

Orange- I have never been in San Jose during a weekday, but if I am I will certainly ask for the Executive Lunch Special.

BKT,
Do you mean $20/person, for two people?

Not questioning you (ok, maybe I am :P ), but if I remember correctly, the full rack of ribs themselves (with sides) is between 12-14,000¢ plus drinks, and then add taxes.

I could be wrong O, but I thought I remembered the full rack at 8k colones or 16 bucks. It has been a while.
