I visited the gardens on saturday, since it was close to the hotel, and got about the same opinion as others, no service, well the kitchen staff was off, but the cute little bartender made up for it, she was total fun, had a drink and then off somewhere else to get some food. but did return in the evening for a drink prior to calling it a night.

Jet lagg is still kicking my butt, so decided on an early night again, so decided to try out the gardens again, and I am glad I did, full kitchen staff on duty, had the Grilled Chicken breast in white wine and galic sauce, meal was excellent as was service. there were several others having meals including a couple eco tourists and everyone commented on how good the food was. Price was not cheap, but yet not expensive, 5600 colones for the meal drink included, but compare it to a meal at lets says Denny's craphouse in the states, and price is about the same for much less.
