Hey guys. I've lurked on the page for a while but finally making my way out to SJ. I've never been, although I spent many years traveling to Brazil, MDE, and Thailand.
I've got work during the days but free to roam in the afternoons. I'm open to meeting up in Jaco or elsewhere if anyone is willing to show the ropes to a new guy. I'm booked at a Marriott. I'm aware it's more of a business hotel, but my clients set that up for me. I'll probably make a second booking at Amistad or some other nice girl spot. Open to suggestions fellas.
I'll buy you a beer if we ever meet up. Arriving Sunday afternoon, and might head straight to Jaco from the hotel.
Welcome! Although I've been going to SJO for our hobby for 20+ years, these days I just go there on business, so my company books the hotels - usually a Marriott or a Hilton. I usually fly in on a Monday night, spend 2-3 nights, come back to the States Wednesday or Thursday.
Based on your comments above, it sounds you're arriving Sunday, going to Jaco to check it out, then returning to SJ in time to be at work Monday morning? It's do-able but you're talking about a 90 minute drive each way
without traffic.
Unless you meant you're staying at Los Sueños in Jaco, the only other hotels in the Marriott chain in San Jose Metro I know of are the Marriott Residence Inn and Marriott Courtyard in Escazu, the Costa Rica Marriott in Belén, as well as an Aloft, an AC Hotel, and a Sheraton. Any of these are quite the haul to Jaco.
For action in SJ might want to check out Taormina and the Sportsmens' Lodge, too. Enjoy your visit!
