Headed back down south in early June. Going to start the trip with 4 nights in Panama City. Never been there so I welcome suggestions as to where to stay, where to hang out etc. Was considering Ecuador but it sounds like the Covid situation is still pretty bad there.

Flying down on Copa for the first time. I hear good things, hope they are true.

Will be in San Jose on June 12, leaving on the 19th. Haven't made hotel reservations yet.

Copa is a good airline. Many don’t know you can bid on a first class upgrade right before the flight. Sometimes very cheap. Went from the states to Colombia once and got first class for $75.00 extra. Check it out.

I had some Avianca Lifemiles I had to use before December so I used the miles to book into Business Class. I figured if I used miles to fly coach, subsequent upgrades would be impossible.

I did Business because it looks like it is a 5 1/2 hour flight from O'Hare.

On a side note, Lifemiles are very difficult to use if your itinerary makes any connections using airlines other than Avianca. I wanted to fly from Columbus Ohio to Panama City and there really weren't any good options available. By booking two reservations, Columbus to Chicago on United and then Chicago to Panama City on Copa I got an 8 hour total duration arriving early afternoon. Downside is I am screwed if that first flight is very late into Chicago.
