Will be returning for second trip this year to CR, this time from July 3 thru 14, splitting time between SJ (at SL) and Jaco (at Cocal).

I'll be at the SL from July 1 - 11, 2019. I will be celebrating Birthday #62 on the Fourth of July (yep, it's my birthday, too) at the SL with a chica on each arm, one in my lap and perhaps one on my face. If I'm not suffocated by then, maybe we'll have a drink together. Look for the dapper blind guy (white stick and all) with longish grey hair, a winning attitude and absolutely mediocre Spanish skills. Hope to meet up with you there!

No Uber at the airport. Uber is not legal in C.R. (although there are lots of Uber drivers, you gotta be discrete; most Uber drivers will go off-app once they get to know you).

If you're looking to save money and are staying at a hotel, you may try Interbus. Cheap, shared microbus between the airport and hotels. If not at a hotel, find the hotel nearest to where you're staying. If close enough, walk or cab the distance. You must reserve Interbus in advance; check the newbie's section here; there are articles.

Hope to see you at the bar at the SL!

I have no experience with Uber from the airport, but I think El Ciego has covered it above.

I have used Uber upon arrival at SJO for my last two trips this year (December and April). The driver will usually have you meet him on the departures level and they will probably specify which crosswalk to be at (ie first, second, third).

Be advised that Uber is not really legal in Costa Rica at all right now but my last driver said that they were going to start paying the appropriate taxes around July so that they could operate in the open. Don't know f that is BS or not.

Anytime you do use UBER in CR, most drivers appreciate it if you get in the front seat so it isn't so obvious that you are using a ride share. Apparently some Uber drivers have been threatened / assaulted by taxi drivers. They are pretty paranoid and rightfully so.

The fare from the airport to the Sportsmens was less than 7K colones (about $11).

Thanks for Posting some helpful Info Harddrive completely aware they are Illegal in CR, however that doesn't mean they aren't available and used LOL ... Uber is the only thing I use once I arrive in San Jose much cleaner and safer than Taxis, again thanks :D for the info I will try to order an Uber and look to meet my driver at the departures and avoid the Taxi Drivers.

Yes I always sit in front seat 8)

Today is the day, (July 3). Returning to San Jose this evening just ahead of the holiday and party weekend.

Looking forward to seeing friends old and new at the SL bar over the next few days (before hitting Jaco then returning to SL next week).

¡Que comience la fiesta!
