Coming to CR with a buddy. We are going to a couple of towns in CR. What is the best way to obtain a couple of ticas who enjoy to travel and play? Any recommendations where I can reach out to them now and interview online to save time? If not, any place to to go when we arrive and negotiate? |

I am not sure interviewing online is such a good idea. If you are going to take the chance of arranging for girls to travel with you (which is risky), you better interview in person and spend some time with them before you depart to make sure you gel. Also, depending on what cities you are visiting, you may not need to take sand to the beach. The girls may like to travel, but they will also be working, so their salary is another thing to negotiate in person. Just my 2 cents |

This is a bad idea (traveling around CR with some random girl you don't know). Read this thread as a starter. What the initial post discusses is an individual who did something similar. And it went to shit. I don't remember all the details and can't find his trip report - but he basically set up to travel with one girl who it turned out was not sympatico with him (or vice versa or both) and then met another in Jaco for a 3some at a hotel that was not chica (unregistered visitor) friendly - the that girl turned out to be less than beautiful, shall we say? Drama ensued. No one had fun. I would meet the girl face-to-face and lay out terms and conditions up front. At a minimum she's going to expect you to pay for everything and then pay her by the day. You're going to have to lay out what you expect and then have a mutually agreed upon determination after negotiation. If she has K*ds, that's a complication (who is watching them, etc.). Same with pets. If she get's unhappy you can expect a sudden emergency at home. And yes, even working girls get unhappy with customers (they are people too). And think about all the shit that can cause drama... (from both of you).... booze, drugs, and so on. All that needs to be talked through. And you better be able to communicate (her speaking English or you espanol). |

Hollywood19 wrote: Coming to CR with a buddy. The beginning was perfect but you jumped way ahead of yourself after that. The one thing that you should be very aware of is that not all the ladies in Costa Rica are safe. There are a lot of narco boyfriends that might enjoy setting you up with their girl, only to put you in a predicament you did not expect. You think getting rolled in Vegas by a hooker at a casino is bad and having the maid find you in the morning handcuffed to the toilet. Add going to a foreign country and not having any sort of support network, it would be very easy for you and your friend to disappear. Look at what happened to the gal from Florida that was just killed. She had no idea what was in store for her at that hostel by herself. She did not have a chance in hell but she did fight hard and probably would have won if it was only the one Nico but more than likely there were a few helpers in her demise. Seriously, use your head and have a great time, but do not be stupid and get your shit handed to you. I have many, many, trips under my belt, not just to CR but other destinations as well, you always need to keep your guard up. Just because you are a Gringo you become a target. Since the locals perception is you have money, and lots of it, they want to see how much they can extract from you by being your friend or helper. Get your feet on the ground and see what the area is like before you try and set up some sort of online matchup. I have a house in an out of the way area but there are still people out there that want your stuff. Last year I had a gun in my face and my laptop stolen in my own front yard. A lot of people are getting desperate with the lack of jobs and will think nothing of stealing or worse since the consequences are not very severe. My intent is not to beat you up on your thinking but to make you aware not all is fun and games in Costa Rica. What towns are you planning on visiting and for how long. Myself and some of the others on this board will be happy to share info that might make your trip a bit more playful and keep you safe. |
