Hey guys!

I'm excited about my first trip to CR. Traveling solo. I've been planning this for months and it's now finally just around the corner.

Thanks for all the great advice from this site. Lots of good, useful information. The advice alone was worth the price of the CRT card.

I will be flying into San Jose and will be staying there just for the first night. I hear there's this place called "Monica's" I should visit. 8)

Next I'm heading to Jaco Beach for the weekend. I know there are better beaches out there but I just want to get all the touristy stuff out of the way all at once. ATV, zip-line, surf lessons, etc.
I will be celebrating my birthday in Jaco Beach. Hotel Cocal is supposedly the place to go in Jaco. I think I'll check out the local nightlife but will eventually end up there.

Finally, I will be heading back to SJ for last stretch of my visit. 3 nights in the the El Rey at the Sportsmens.

I've enjoyed all the great stories I've read on this site. If even half of it all was true, I'm sure I'm in for a great time!

good for you and enjoy
you have the right spirit and traveling solo you really just need to remember your home flight and just go w the flow
do not recommend swimming in the ocean sewage for surf lessons lol
its a 20 min max cab ride to playa hermosa and entirely different
probably don't need to say it but be aware at night on the streets in jaco
don't forget to post your glorious trip report 8)

Hope you don't get train side at the Amistad. Stayed there several times and the last and it will be the last was a very cool room (like an apartment) was just a few feet from the room. Train starts at an ungodly hour and the guy that is supposed to silence the train with signs is never there on time. Guaranteed to rock you out of bed! I now stay a sister property Castillo and is much more serene. Have fun!
