Whats up fellas. Going to make my first trip down there next month. Im a younger guy, 26, looking to chill with others when im there. Still trying to decide between the HDR and SL. Any opinions on which is better for a first trip?

Stay at the SL, if you want a more relaxed trip. If Bill waves that's even better.

Whats the scene like at SL in late September?

There is no way to predict what "the scene" is like on any given day of any given month (except Christmas and Easter).

The girls allowed to solicit in the SL, just like the girls at the HDR or even any of the salas (so-called 'MPs' like Monica's, Relex, IDEM) are independents (independientes in Espanol).

That means they don't work for the SL or the HDR or even the sala they are sitting in. They come in when they need to / want to. Pimping and pandering are illegal in Costa Rica.

Generally, the more gringos are in town, the more chicas are around. Generally.

There are always beautiful girls around in San Jose. Sometimes you have to go out and find them and sometimes they seem to be lined up for the asking. Some of the cynics say there are only fuglies around these days but I've never had an issue finding hotties. But then my search is restricted to who's sitting at the bar at the SL or the HDR.

I will be back same time in Sept. and will frequent SL and HDR daily and nightly.
The scene should be good as i have seen a lot of new talent the last several months. I am hooked on a Nica right now but there are several new lookers i have kept in touch with from the HDR that will be in the mix.
We can grab a beer, walk the town, etc

I like to recommend staying at HDR for a newbies first trip, especially if you're young.

You're in the belly of the beast, its wild n crazy most evenings, especially Thur, Fri and Sat, and even during slow times there's chicas around, even 6 am! I've stayed there before, took the vator down at 6 am to get coffee, saw an incredible hottie and took her back up, then enjoyed her company and took her to breakfast at Del Mar (HDR's restaurant next door) afterwards...

It's loud, the rooms, although large and clean, are old school but the service is excellent.
You're in the thug section of town, so numerous thugs are always around the outside trying to sell something, fake cigars, fake viagra, or just mooching, but they're harmless.

At night if you're tired, you don't have to go out n about looking for love, pick a chica and elevator up to your room, easier than room service, lol.

Also, if you're running out to meet friends and a hottie catches your eye, you can get her cell # and call her later or probably see her the next day anyway. At HDR, girls are always running across your vision field, it's non stop bedlam and crazy, even though some afternoons slow down, it's still 10x more chicas than anyplace else and if nothing to your liking in the afternoon, you can walk to SL, Relax or Monica's MP's easily.

During your maiden voyage, you can also visit SL, La Amistad, Castillo and others to see if a classier more subdued hotel in nicer quieter neighborhoods, all within a 10 minute walk, to see if you might prefer one of these on your upcoming visits.

If you choose HDR, get a window room, 3rd floor or higher, preferably ask for the quieter side.

Since you are young, many old mongers will want to give you advice, some are insufferable bores, when you find yourself stuck with one, just look at your watch and declare you have to meet some friend or chica soon, thank them for their incredible insight, and politely escape...
