Hello fellow mongerers!

My first post here as I prepare to leave for a 10-day trip in CR this Thursday (June 7th). I'll be staying at the Taormina for a few days and depending on the quality of what I find around there, might travel to Jaco for a few days. Nothing booked yet. I'm a good-looking, fit, 40 year-old looking for a wingman (or a few) to experience the area. I started browsing on Tinder yesterday and got a match with a 7, but she's already asking for 120$...

I read the newbie section and many of the recent posts, thanks for sharing!

Any advice is welcome, looking forward to meeting some nice chicas!

I won't be there until the 16th so we won't run into each other.

You should enjoy the Taormina as a hotel. The bar is also good, drinks are reasonably priced. Talent there is hit or miss early but there are usually a few in there late nights. The bar food is very good. I had the pizza, fish and chips, ceviche and nachos. All were good and priced very reasonably.

You will be very close to Pension 506 (formerly Zona 2) and Little Havana. Both are now under the same ownership / management and the women go back and forth between the two places. You can sometimes find a winner here.

As you exit Taormina, two blocks to the right in a very TICO place called VIPs. I have seen some pretty cute ladies in there and also some very scary ones. Price is very cheap for on premises play. Does not get started until late (after 10 pm or so) and the walk is kind of sketchy between VIPs and the hotel. Keep yoor eyes open.

Also across the street from VIPs is a regular Tico bar that usually features live music, especially on the weekend. I have seen some cute women going in and out of the place. You can't miss it, a big white building with graffiti all over it.

If you are TRULY a good looking, rather young guy then you might have some luck hitting on some regular, non-P4P women. Just be careful not to flirt with someone Tico's GF.

Also within a short walk (past Pension 506) are bar Poas and Bar Malibu. Both bars cater to older expats and Ticos. Drinks are reasonable and the food can be pretty good. Women frequent both bars but you will find them a bit older, rougher and cheaper than those in the regular venues. Occasionally you can find a winner. Be advised that I heard Bar Malibu is has changed ownership since I was there in April.

Also, just past Pension 506 on the right side of the street is Soda Peru. This is a great place to get lunch / early dinner. Very good food at a reasonable price. A lot of seafood dishes.

Since you have read the forum already I don't have to tell you about the Sportsmens or Hotel Del Rey bars. Both are walkable from the Taormina but I would advise a taxi after 8 pm or so if you are by yourself. Fare with tip to either place should be only 1000 colones with tip (about $2) and it will be much safer. Cabs in front of the Taormina (like in front of the HDR or Sportsmens) will try to charge you 2000 colones at night. Even though it's only about four bucks, they are trying to get over on you. It just depends on whether you want to flag down a taxi that will use the meter or if you are in a hurry and are willing to part with the extra couple of $$.

Also, after dark in the area around the Taormina / Pension 506 / Bar Poas, if any woman flirts with you on the street, she is most likely a he :D.

You should find plenty of fun things to do in San Jose for 10 days. I enjoy it more than Jaco. While the Hotel Cocal has a lot of hot women there at night, you will find that that is pretty much the only place to go until it closes. Then there are a couple of late night bars to go to. You will find Jaco is much more expensive for accomodations, food, drinks and company. Also it is VERY hot and probably the worst beach in Costa Rica.

Have a great trip.

Thanks for the great tips! I always prefer walking around, but I might take an Uber to try Monica's, for which I almost just read good reports. I tend to have more energy during the day, but I understand the activity happens mostly at night around there. I'll have to adjust my sleeping habits ;)

Thanks again!

Actually, if you plan on spending most of your time in Massage parlors the late morning, early afternoon is pretty much prime time. Pension 506 / Little Havana is late afternoon / early evening. Poas and Malibu, early evening to not so late night.

Sportsmens and HDR have activity all day. Sportsmens starts to get a bit lively late afternoon, early evening. Closes early at midnight though sometimes dead by 10 pm. Del Rey is truly all day. There are women there working at 6am and the bar is open pretty much all night. It will get crowded and then empty out, get crowded again, empty out, etc.

Taormina opens around lunch time I believe. I have seen women in there as early as 5pm but the majority hang out early to late evening. I have seen a rush there after midnight as other venues close. I have come back to my room there very late (around 3 am or so) and found the bar hopping. I believe it is open until 5 and I have gotten food there after midnight.

Pension Monica's is a worthwhile visit. Dayana is an excellent session. Robert, the owner, is steadily improving the Calver of the ticas and their treatment of the punters.

Can you tell me if the Taormina is friendly to guest?

Is it a good idea to try ******* in CR? I see many interesting ones like the ones listed here: https://colitaspaseocolon.webnode.es/.

Any comments on those? Thanks!

I would not look into *******.
Plenty to pick from in person and you can interview them before hand etc at all of the facilities, SL, HDR, etc.

Taormina was guest friendly when I was there in April. They do sign them in at reception. To be on the safe side you should always verify status directly with the hotel before booking. Things can always change with little notice.

Dayana is great, she's more of a "woman''. She's sweet and cooperative. Another elegant English speaker with class is Veronica, she's the fave of a lot of guys. If you like fresh meat, there's a hot little firecracker there about 19 named "Eyya'' or "Ella" or something like that, Robert can pronounce or spell her name for you, she's a tiny spinner, but get ready for a wrestling match...

I stumbled across a strip club about 2 blocks south of the Cocal on the right called Centerfold's Gentleman's Club. They open at 10pm. When I got there they were just setting up so I didn't get a chance to check out the talent. The Black Marlin is a vanilla night club that I checked out as well. It was in full swing at 2am on a Wednesday with a few working girls mixed in with the locals.

You definitely want to be careful walking the streets that late though. My hotel was basically across the street and I still got attacked by 2 crackheads

Oh and yeah it was crazy hot down there. Walking the strip at noon for 15min felt like walking the Sahara

Lose her number, delete Tinder from your cell.

You will find far better choices maybe 1/2 the price at HDR, SL, 506, Monica's, Relax, 360, etc.
