I'll be making my first trip to San Jose after years of lurking here. Many trips to different places in Mexico.
I'll be staying at Amistad. Any others going to be there during this time?

Good choice on where you are staying. Don't forgt to order the porkchop at least 1 hour before eating and try the Tuna tartar as well.

Congrats on pulling the trigger Tex! Your life is about to change for the good, permanently  .

I will be there the week before you, so will try to write a trip report as soon as I return. La Amistad is a great choice. I've never stayed there, but one of my wingmen stayed there a few years back so ended up eating there quite a bit. The food is really good and the accommodations are nice. I appreciate their all-inclusive package and I'm sure it works out if your drink at their bar alot. However, I like to get out of the hotel and try several restaurants and bars so not really for me. You don't have to take the all-inclusive if you don't want though.

I usually stay at the Morazan, just for the 1 minute proximity to the DR. Rooms are ok, and no chica fee. Food is average, but there are so many restaurants and sodas (I love these) that there is always good food around. I am sure you will have a great time, with memories that last forever. On my first trip (circa 2005), I met the cutest Nica spinner at the DR one morning. Took her with me to Tamarindo that weekend. I still dream about the sex I had with this girl, 12 years later! You will have the same thing happen to you. CR transforms a man into a legend of confidence.

I've been to many mongering destinations, and they all have there pros and cons as does CR. CR just has a certain uniqueness to its scene that I have not seen replicated elsewhere. Throw in the perpetual spring weather, great food and culture, it is heaven on earth to me. Enjoy my friend!

Update! Have PMed POPs and BB57 and hope to meet them both and take advantage of their experience and knowledge. Have set a meeting up with Luna and have been chatting on FB with Karen. Have a list of establishments and the best BBBJ performers from board members. Set up La Amistad. Have saved plenty of cash. What am I missing?

The thrill of adventure that comes with a bit of hunting and freestyling on your own.

I totally agree. All of your planning is good, but the thrill is the vast potential of searching for and finding the diamond.
