Hey folks, First time, solo traveler visiting costa rica. Going to be Nov 24 -27 in cocal, Jaco and 27 -29 in san jose. Haven't book hotel yet but as hilton memebr always prefer to stay there. I've found hilton 20 mins from all happening area and I would like to hangout at night time so wondering commute not become overhead for 2 nights. Looking to make new friends... Macie |

It all depends on what you are wanting to experience. If you want girls then the hilton is not the place to be. If you want to play I would suggest La Amistad or the Sportsman. Or if money is not a problem get your room at the hilton and get one in town. I guarantee you that if you want to play with the girls your room at the hilton will be a waste. Taxi fare will be close to 10,000 colones each way and if you take a girl you can pretty much count on paying her taxi back to downtown or home if it is late. Just going to the Rey and having some drinks time can get away from you with all there is to look at. For the record it is very hard to not pull a girl when you visit these types of venues. Also the all inclusive at La Amistad is a great deal. |

Money is not big deal to stay in Hilton but same time I'm looking good experience of San Jose city & girls. I'm fine to pay ride back or more prefer to overnight stay. Don't waste too much time in commute at the same time because day time I'll prefer to do tourist activity & fin at night time. |

I used to get 2 rooms so I could do as I wanted. Also if picking up non working girls they will not be caught dead going into a hotel that is a mongering hotel. If you want the girls action and money is not a problem get a 2nd room at the Del Rey and you are in the belly of the beast. You will pay extra to take a girl up to your room though but you are ground zero. It is a good option to have though. One little piece of advice on the 2 rooms though is make sure you go to the room and mess it up a little because if they think no one is there they will lock you out. I would always mess up the bed and run the shower leaving a moist towel on the floor. |

Thanks Il4play. I prefer to hangout with 1 girl with long duration then short with multiple but might fail miserably there due it all different culture there. Hotel say uber/taxi are running late night so commute should be fine & i think working girls are also fine to Hilton. |

Macie, we appreciate your optimism, but with all due respect... listen to what the vets are telling you. How do you even know "working girls are also fine to Hilton"? If you're staying at the Hilton, you either mean the Hilton Garden in La Sabana or (ouch) the Doubletree in Cariari or (gasp!) Hampton Inn by the airport. Hopefully it's the first option, in which case you aren't too far from Ground Zero (Hotel Del Rey). Now, here's what else you'll have to think about: 1) Is the Hilton Garden Inn "chica friendly"? 2) If so, do they charge a chica fee? How much? (e.g. Holiday Inn downtown charges $75 per visitor)? And is your chica dressed appropriately - meaning something other than a bra, booty shorts and stilettos? 3) Next step is you have to find a suitable chica AND convince her to take a long ride out of the Gulch to your hotel. If she's a typical Del Rey merc, you'll have to make it worth her while. The longer the ride, the more of her time you're consuming, and the more $ she'll expect. 4) Given you are a first timer, it's reasonable to assume you don't know any working girls in SJO. Do you really want to take a girl you just met for a all nighter? What if you get to your room and when she disrobes, everything she had tightly wrapped up flops out and down, leaving you to wonder how the heck did she hide those extra 20 lbs of gunt? 5) Do you even speak Spanish? What, you thought every chica at the Del Rey speaks fluent monger? Now, if money is no object for you, then by all means do your thing. Money talks and bullshit walks, so as long as you are willing to spend, the chica will be willing to go to Limon with you if necessary. However, if you aren't planning to throw your money away like a sailor on leave, then you might want to consider staying somewhere closer to the action and renting short term instead of all night, at least until you find a good one. Good luck, mh |

Thanks Miamiheller. I'm getting free room in Hilton Garden in La Sabana and they charge $40 for each chica to bring room but I always feel safe there. 3) Next step is you have to find a suitable chica AND convince her to take a long ride out of the Gulch to your hotel. If she's a typical Del Rey merc, you'll have to make it worth her while. The longer the ride, the more of her time you're consuming, and the more $ she'll expect. Completely got your point. - In this case I feel more safe in Hilton , I'm not sure on safety on Del Ray. I got my best time without paying, and I also like to meet non working girls and hangout with them but not sure what kind of scene there on non working girls and their view point/opinion on male tourist. but looks like I've to re-think my decision , Del Ray is good on safety concern ? |

If you are going to play, the solution is to stay at Sportsmens lodge if you are in SJO a few days only. There are girls on site there, its safe with in house security that checks girls coming and going. Its a 3 min taxi / 5-10 min walk to the Rey. You mentioned you are also looking to meet new friends, which is fairly easy to do at SL with like minded individuals staying there. You will gain much more insight into the scene there and in the area by being there in similar company. Its a great venue for your first time. You can eat, drink, play, exercise, book activities for the day, watch sports and be in the company of some fine chicas without stepping foot outside. Same with the Rey, but SL is a more controlled environment with a great staff on hand in a smaller environment. As far as the non working girls go, i can't help you there |

As far as the non working girls go, i can't help you there I agree 1000% with Jfoot, if you want the best experience for a first timer I would highly recommend the SL. It is very safe, they are on your side and always try to make everything right, you are safe there. Funny story, on my first time in SJ I stayed at the SL and I pulled a non-working broad that I met in one of my zip lining trips. You should've seen her face when she got back to the SL!! Priceless. But if you get back after midnight the bar will be closed and it would look like a regular place. I think that based on your preferences you would like LA much better, low key atmosphere, kinda upscale, no working girls there. You will be a block from SL and 5 mins from HDR, get the whole package and it will be a great deal. Trust me on this one, if the vets are telling you something, listen to them, they know the ropes. Google Hotel La Amistad, you would like it. |

Be careful picking your taxi leaving HDR late at night |

Thanks Folks but last night I already cancel my reservation to Hilton and did one for Del Rey. I don't wanna do exercise again from del rey to SL. I think should be fine but I'll check out SL and try to catch up with some folks there from the group. Before coming to san jose for 2 nights, I'm in Jaco at Cocal for 3 nights so buzz me if you're in that area or any suggestion for places to visit there at night time (specific dance bar/club). |
