Going to be down over new years. Staying at Sportsman, but looking at possibly spending some time in Jaco. Anyone going to be around?

You picked a shitty time to be there. Note how many people have responded that they will be there. The pickings will be super, super slim at this time of year. Couldn't have picked a worse time to go imho.

don't let anyone rain on your parade. I've gone many times @ xmas and have had no real problems beacuse it is slower then normal but not dead- you just have to change your game a little to coincide with the holiday and family

think early for that prize snapper catch - like between 2- 5 in the afternoon @ SL: - have done very well - then there are the regulars who come in the early afternoon ( like 1pm) and sit in the back - just remember most of them have family they head home to in @ about 4-5pm ( it's the holiday )

also - NF- Zona II ectectect will all be vying for those xmas bonus that will be circling around - they'll only close for xmas and new year - I prefer early morning - nothing like a fresh catch early in the morning - starts the day right - I like NF when they first open up @ 10 am and only entice a half hour ( I come ready for businesses ) if you go this route - make sure they are open by checking the day before

then there is the HDR in the afternoon like at 3-4 - years ago VB met me one holiday when I was newbeing and I have to say _ I was pleasantly surprised - you can also make arraignments for extended stay companion but that is $$$$$ - don't leave out KL around 10 pm and around the slots in the back of HDR - both have scored well - as far as jaco goes - never really been to jaco other then to fish - REMEMBER - it is all in the way you hold yourself - if you are a live wire like me - no problems - but if you are picky and inpatient - she'll pick up on that - NOPE - go with the Holiday Spirit - and stay jovial - it's the holiday - Merry Xmas

I'd rather be in Costa Rica anytime then back home freezing in the middle of winter.
You will have a great time..

I was down at that time a couple of years ago and had a blast. Just go and do it.

agree with whitecat - ya just have to roll with the flow - sorta like tidal fishing on the flats - ya know the schoolies are there - you just have to catch em when their hungry - that's why I suggested a game change of early morning casting on the flats and late night trolling under the bridge - I use the analogy of life's never ending fishing trip - you have to change baits and tactics to land that prize catch - even when fishing a little slow - the fish are still there

enjoy yourself - that's all that matters pedro

Thanks for the well wishes. I realize not the optimal timing, but my job keeps me pretty locked down otherwise, and this seemed like a decent time. I couldn't quite swing the trip to SE Asia this year, so Costa looked like a viable alternative.

Enjoy your time and don't let anyone tell you that it's a bad time to visit San Jose. IMO anytime is a good time to visit. Getting laid twice a day and enjoying some cold beer can happen on given day in San Jose. Make your own party, enjoy your time
