I can't believe it's been 2 years already ... oh, and this'll be my 21st trip in those measly 24 months too!

I'm planning to stay at the ML (so I can have my girl stay with me for a bit). I also have to work from the room 6am to 3pm, so morning excursions are out. But I will have the two weekends free to party hearty.

If anyone wants to meet up for a drink (and perhaps an MP crawl), then PM me and we'll make plans.

Well it looks like we might finally get a chance to meet. Arrive on the 7th and heading to Jaco till the 10th..Then Sportsmens lodge 11th and 12th. I was gonna stay at ML also but have heard they closed the 4th floor and have constant construction and no restaurant. PM me and will figure out a date and time.

BD...if you expect to continue your high-frequency of visits, why not purchase a condo there?
Or, if you'd rather rent than buy :) , why not maintain an apartment there? You would save money in the long run. Just a thought.

Idk about it saving money so much but it is nice to not have to pack so much stuff
If he is there 9 days every month and pays an average of $40-80 a night thats $360-720 per month
A decent apt is going to be in the $500-800 a month range + utilities/cable/etc
And then there is the whole furnishing/appliances thing which is crazy expensive
As far as buying a condo?
Thats the last thing I would ever advise anyone to do

I'm totally naive here...but why not buy a condo? Other than the obvious risks of buying property in a 3rd world country when one is not even a citizen of that said country.

if you have money to burn then go for it i guess
beyond the issue i listed in terms of cost you also are bound to that piece of property
i remember when i first started traveling in my 20s and i would see these great little condo spots in mexico, hawaii, puerto rico, jamaica wherever and I would think how cool would it be to have a place here?
then a banker buddy of mine asked me how many vacations i could take for that money...
i had not been thinking about it like that and I'm sure for some buying a condo could really work
unless i was going to live there it would be the last thing i would consider doing

think bud. Why do you need more than your own stated reason? I would only consider buying if I was to live there and occasionally vacation in the US to see family.

Gotcha guys. Definitely don't have that kind of cash to throw around. I am always surprised at the number of Americans buying properties in some of the worst locations imaginable in the world. BTW Bashful Congrats on your trip. You are THE man!!! I am jealous. Why do I not live in Florida?

Regarding an apartment there, how about a timeshare setup with a friend or two :?:
