Brand spankin' new monger here. I'm all over the Central Pacific this week, but am "extending" my trip by myself for a couple days to check out the scene. I've been scouring this forum for a couple weeks and decided I'd try my luck at HDR for both nights, and venture out as I got more comfortable. However, everyone who said they'll be in CR during that time is heading down to Jacó for the weekend.

Will I have a vastly better experience if I head to Jacó and buy you guys a couple beers to get the lay of the land? Or should I stick to my guns at HDR, possibly without the guidance of this wonderful community?

Regardless, I'll be there, absolutely murdering the Spanish language I learned 10 years ago.

You will find plenty of like minded people hanging at the Rey, or go up to the Sportsman and make some friends there, then go exploring as a group. With all the info available here you will have no issues going it alone but I am sure you will make new friends very quickly.
