Welcome for your first trip down. If you haven't done so already, get yourself a CRT VIP card through the board here and the discounts that come with the card will equal and pass what the card costs. If you haven't already made hotel reservations, I recommend making them through the locations on here that contribute to the board. They are 1) Sportsmans Lodge 2) Zona 2 3)La Amistad 4)Dunn Inn. Each hotel has a website that you can make a reservation through and use your crt discount through.

A good example of the crt card saving me enough money equal or greater than the value of the card was letting the Sportsmans Lodge know I had one, and showed it on check in, and it got me 10% off the nightly rate and equal to me paying the card for 2 years. Zona 2 and La Amistad have discounts for guests that are CRT members, but offhand I can only remember ZOna 2's, which is instead of being charged 149/night, you are charged 100/night. Agagin, good deals all around. As for La Amistad, I can honestly say I don't remember off the top of my head what their discount is because I haven't stayed there or dealt with making a reservation there before, along with the Dunn Inn that I had recommended, but there are other CRT brothers on here that can help.

I also recommend contacting fellow CRT brother Puravidatransport who offers rides to and from the airport and shows newbies around too. I've used him on 2 of my 3 trips because I didn't really know about him on my first trip and am very happy with his service. There are other members out there who offer paid ride services as a backup if Steve isn't available.

Hope this helps.

I'm awaiting an approval on vacation time - planning either 3/4 - 3/7 or 3/11 - 3/14, depending on the boss. The flights I'm looking at will have me arriving well past midnight. Do any of you guys have any tips on late night hotel transfers and check-ins?

It will be my first time too, so if you want another CRT virgin to monger with, I'm game. Just hope the boss approves my time.

I remember the having to wait for the boss to approve the time off problem myself when I worked a job that we had to request the time and the shift manager looked to see if he could spare you for the time. That was the bad part. The good part that helped speed up the approval up was that he was a fellow admirer of travels to Costa Rica and gave me good advice about what to watch out for, being he was a ex cop from Chicago that left that and came to our federal position.

The best advice I can give to you newbies for the first time is to get and pay for those crt vip cards membership, because the benefits outweigh the cost, and as I posted earlier, you can repay the cost of the card in 1 or more trips with the discounts. When you buy the card, its going to ask for a handle, I suggest you use the same handle you use for the forums so that the admins can put 2 and 2 together and ensure you get the appropriate access on here to where you can view and post pictures in the vip area.

I wish my boss was like yours! Mines a woman, so she would not understand at all . Atleast she's hot though haha. Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably get it once I'm there just in case it doesn't get here in time or my time isn't approved. The anticipation if this trip is killing me!
