OK, so my July 4th trip was aborted due to mechanical delays with my departing flight out of New York. Would have missed the connection, no guarantee of getting in to SJO the same day, and generally just a smarter move to take the refund and reschedule.

So.... back for 4 days starting Thursday afternoon August 28th. Who else will be in town and where are ya'll staying?

For some reason no one likes using the Calendar anymore.

I am in on the 27th, staying at Hotel Castillo. My friends come in on the Fri 29th and Sat 30th. These will definitely be club nights for us. We are out to Jaco Sunday morning.

What time the 28th do you arrive?

Greeting Gents.....
This will be my first CR trip ...also arriving Thursday on the 28th for a little R&R and Mongering. I haven't confirmed where I will be staying yet but since I'm a newbie I was thinking one of the three

ML for it's central location to three or four hangouts and the possibility of hooking up on-site
SL to meet and greet with other mongers and the possibility of a good on site hookup or two
or
LA - for the peace, tranquility and good food

all opinion are welcomed

I also wanted to check our Jaco....@ bashful how long are you and your buddies staying in Jaco ?

We are only going for a day/night. We arrive Sunday morning, jump off a cliff in the afternoon, and assuming survival, will be checking out the hot-spots in the evening. Monday we'll wander the town proper, and then bus back to SJO. Monday evening will prolly be an SL/HDR relax and watch evening.

It's not really a 'Jaco trip' ... so if you want to 'see' it, you should plan to stay more than a night.

How long is your stay?
Let us know where you will be staying?
What time does your flight arrive (in other words, what are you up for on your arrival day)?
Will you have an operational phone? If not, install WhatsApp in the states, and you can use it wifi in CR.

Welcome to the fold.

All 3 are excellent venues. Depending on your length of stay, the prices may vary. It all depends on your 'monger-style'. But as a first-time visit, you'll be happy with any of the 3.

I'm in on Aug 27th and out on Sept 2. Staying at Sportsmens. I have Steve (PVT) scheduled to pick me up at the airport at 1:00PM on Aug 27th. If anyone wants to share the ride with me to downtown, just send me a PM.

Sorry BD, I've already made the call and I'm planning on wifing up.

Now that is total BS. I never make advance plans beyond hotel reservations and only occasionally make plans for how I get from the airport to the hotel. :D

Here's a YouTube link that explains my point of view. Grasshopper, be sure to watch it all the way to the end to learn about the Hot vs Crazy chicas and about yourself.

popcorn on hot standby. I'll check it out later this evening.

Does it come with Cliff Notes? Because my retention is terrible these days.

Based on your research & the good reviews from fellow mongers, I will be staying at Hotel Castillo from Oct 24th thru Nov 3rd (my second trip to CR). I've reserved a 2nd floor deluxe room in the new garden section which are supposed to have a great view AND a/c. Please, when you make your trip report, let us know how you like the rooms there. Thank you! You saved me a lot of time & $$. And that's the bottom line! And not just 'cause Stone Cold said so either.

I will let you know what I experience at HC. I have previewed the place previously, and liked the ambiance.

I've stayed there on 2 occasions. Front desk staff is awesome, very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic and a little dated, but clean. I put a towel against the door from the inside to close the "gap" - mainly so dust and little critters couldn't join me.

Free continental breakfast and WiFi works in the lobby and eating areas... but not in the room.

Good choice if you spend minimal time in the hotel and just need a place to sleep, shower and screw - and convenient walking distance to SL, ML and DR.
