planing my first trip to CR in august.

anyone have recommendations for a good hotel to stay at? i've heard a lot about the del rey, but i'm worried it might be too intense for a first visit.

any advice you can spare would be greatly appreciated.

Spend the money and get a CRT VIP membership soon. On your first trip to SJ, you'll save more than the cost of the VIP card.

Also, check your PM's.

SL is a great place for first visit. Easy to find wings and solid location

+3 It is where i stayed on my first trip and got the riim I enjoyed the most in my 2 stays at SL, Hermosa.

One of the things the SL front desk does for you is handle the exit tax paperwork for $30. Its $2 more than at the airport, but at a location you can feel comfortable with and open at the hours you want, not the bank's hours as it may be in SJO airport and at banks around SL.

Lastly, recommend setting up your transport to and from the airport as soon as you get your dates set up. First choice i would recommend is Steve, aka Puravidatransport who is a fellow CRT member and has taken care of me every time i have used him. His website is www.puravidatransport.com

+4 I went solo my first trip and agree with all that's been said about the SL so far. Great place to ease into CR and is basically a "one stop shop" for your CR adventure both on the monger side and "normal" vacation activities.

And most definitely agree with setting up personal/private transport from the airport. The first time I walked out the airport exit doors was a little overwhelming. Having someone looking for you with a sign in their hand with your name on it was re-assuring. I didn't make the same mistake twice and just a suggestion for your first time.

Spend plenty of time reading previous posts here to help you make your decisions and to be prepared to enjoy CR.

First trip? Don't spend $100 on ANY chica or you will joint the Jagoff Cien Club.

Everyone gives you their preferred choice. I'll ask you what it is you want from the place you will be sleeping in?

If you want the in-your-face experience, go DR. You will be knee-deep in puta once out of the elevator.

If you want a more sublime experience, on par to DR, go SL. Try not to stay off the courtyard, especially on any party nights. One guy told me he turns on the tv to cover the noise, and he sleeps like that. I cannot deal with any noise, so measure yourself against that.

If you want a free lay every day, go HLH. It's dead quiet after 8pm. This is the only place I have yet stayed.

If you want to be near DR but not on site (walking distance), choose Morazan. Clean place, bit noisy on the street side in the mornings, if you like to sleep late. Oh, and Ricky Ricardo will try to sell you every possible tour every time he sees you pass the lobby.

If you want just off the SL (walking distance), try La Amastad or Hotel Castillo. Both seem nice and quiet, yet close enough to the SL action to skip a cab.

You also have Mona Lisa (which I believe is cased by the SL talent) and Dunn Inn, but I don't know anything about them. They are 1 and 2 blocks from HLH, so it puts tranny corner between you and HLH.

Awesome advice. I'll look into either the SL or La Amistad. I'm not sure about being "knee-deep in puta" on my first trip.

I was "knee deep" in putas on my first 2 trips when I stayed at SL and loved every minute. Staying at HLH on trip #3 made me have more action every day for less than the price of putas at SL and HDR. The atmosphere of fun that Boyd had with chicas there gave me strength to session more times than any other trip.
