Would like to go fishing off a bridge, beach, small boat. Where is the best place to catch snook, reds, roosters, etc? Should I go buy a pole and some gear or can I find a place to rent? Please advise.

Take a private plane to zona sur Sierpe River(Palma Norte or Drake Bay) or Tortuguero o the Caribe side. Both can be reached in a 30-35 Minute flight with Nature Air or Sansa Air, The fishing is amazing and a boat can be rented for $100-150 for the day. They will supply all the gear. If you want to just drown worms - the bridge in Caldera (about 1 hour drive) on the way to Puntarenas. The way I look at it pay a taxi or buy a plane ticket. The first two locations are definitely worth the time and energy. Caldera - ok to kill a day.

Matt, let me know when you want to head south, I'll go with ya. I'm interested if anyone catches fish in Caldera. Not far from San Jose so I could spend the day with the Lady and K*ds. I have been up to Rio Indio Lodge on the Caribbean side of Nicaraugua and caught some snook and Guapote bass. Excellent fishing up there as well. Real private and secluded. They just put in a new airport at Grey town, so transportation is a breeze. I am working on some packages for them in the fall for peak Tarpon season.

Maybe we should not work so hard and go fishing with N2.

Well since my trip is semi solo, I plan to inshore fish instead of find a deep sea charter. Since I lived in FL many years I have alot of experience in grouper, reds, trout, snapper and other inshore spots. I prefer fish I can eat, if I want Tarpon, Dynamite and depth charges work great in Boca Grande, FL. Anyone else have recommendations? Thanks for all the input. I have a car ready rented so its wherever I drive too.

Hey Matt - a few questions on the fishing if you don't mind. We typically have done the deep sea thing but I'm interested in catching a tarpon or snook. What size fish are typically encountered ? Do the snook and tarpon take small lures well like rapala's or other swimming plugs ? Or is it more of a live bait fishery ?

Thanks

D

Anyone know the minimum size limit on snook?
